Statistics New Zealand (June 2011): Median weekly income for those receiving income from wages and salaries was $800.

I can only quote my situation, I'm a single truck mechanic, in Oxfordshire I could only afford to lodge or rent a flat. I've been in NZ for just over 18 months and I've bought my first home

Probably not as easy in Auckland but much more affordable down south!
