Hi, when we returned to the UK we did not have any problems with mortgages etc, credit...well we always pay cash so have not actually applied for any credit if I was you and you might need credit I would bring as much info over as possible ie if you have credit cards bills etc it might help to show you have a paying history so to speak, even household bills might help. Good luck

Will you have a source of income straight away?
When we returned after two years overseas, credit (i.e. cards, loans) was hard to get, but we had no trouble getting a mortgage. I guess because that was secured lending.

Hi,
You might find you can obtain a UK Mortgage now, based on your situation at present. Some lenders take comfort in knowing that you have employment secured - but not all do. I am a whole of market, FSA registered mortgage broker and I specialise in ExPat mortgages. I am more than happy to answer any questions. Regards Simon |

to improve a credit rating in the UK, and you start with a neutral one, you should have bank account, credit card, be on electoral roll. as long as you keep paying your credit card with at least the minimum amount then your rating will go up. Not sure about what non UK things they take into account, but we returned after 5 years in Spain and have had no problems. Having a egular income also helps, I'm a pensioner, so that works.

The lenders here will only consider an applicaation from you if you have your deposit in cash. They wouln't be able to do anything with equity that is already tied-up in other assetts. You would need to have a deposit of at least 25% Regards Simon |
