You can ask any business for their Complaints Book. If they refuse / don't have one this can and should be reported to the Police Local.

How you can get in trouble in Italy is by getting work done in the black. The fines are worse if the worker is foreign. If you make a denuncia against an illegal worker you would be fined too for employing him in the first place. Doesn't that happen in Spain?

Not as far as I am aware. I know many who will ONLY employ Brits, cash in hand. Why I know not. Go figure?

I have never employed anyone other than the Spanish and only tradesmen from my own town who have come recommended by neighbours and friends, They know how the houses are built, the systems that are put in and of course the paperwork system too. Like you I find it difficult to get my head around the fact that so many insist on employing Brits.

Totally agree - I learnt very early on - avoid the Brits and get a better job done for less money.

Why do you keep talking about Italy (what this may or not) on a Spanish forum in a country that has different rules / ways of working / etc etc ?
