Default ACCA Equivalency in Canada!!

Dear All,

I'm a fully qualified ACCA without a first degree, I intend to apply for Canadian PR, however I'm wondering how ACCA is classified in the Canadian Education system. Will it be considered as a Bachelor's in the awarding of education points? or it will be considered as a non-university certificate?

Any comments or experiences shared will be appreciated.

It is a professional qualification, not an academic one, so it will not count as a degree.

While you are waiting for your PR to come through you should seriously think about getting yourself a Bachelor's degree of some sort. Accountancy is a graduate profession in Canada. If you have a degree you will be able to take a short conversion course and get a CGA designation.

....try the Oxford Brookes degree through the ACCA.
You may want to ask ACCA whether the transcripts are acceptable by the Canadian CGA Accounts Body with which ACCA have a 'Mutual Recognition' program.

This Mutual Recognition Program allows you to convert to a known Accounts Body accepted by Canadian employers (ie CGA). All you need to do is sit two Papers which can be completed on-line.

Hope that helps.

Indy.
