Default Dollar vs Thrifty, car rentals...any opinions?

Does anyone have a comparison or opinion on the difference between
Thrifty and Dollar car rental companies? I will be renting a car for
a month, and the prices are almost identical for what I want, so
trying to decide which to go with.

Thanks!

I've rented from both and differences usually come down to the
local manager so toss a coin

I have rented from both companies. No problem either way.

Take a close look at their terms and conditions. i.e. Will they provide you
with a replacement car if you crash yours. What is the excess on the
insurance if there is any damage. Will they provide breakdown assistance.
Can you get transport to and from the office..

What I mean is, if you look hard enough, you'll find an aspect which will
persuade you either way.

Failing that, go with the one with the nicest website!

Unless something has changed under the radar recently, Dollar and
Thrifty are two brands of the same company. Expect company owned
locations to be equal and franchised locations to operate however the
local owner chooses within the terms of his franchise agreement. At one
time Dollar was the "on airport" choice and Thrifty was "off airport"
but those distinctions have long since vanished.

My experience was with Thrifty. I had booked through travelocity in SF
and when I went to pick it up was told I needed mandatory damage waiver
even though I was charging to Amex gold which covers that. I got back on
the shuttle bus as the rental is off site and got a car at Hertz with no
hassle, though it cost more because I hadn't prebooked on internet.
