Any one out there living in Aqaba or Jordan?
Would like to get more on hand infos about living in Aqaba, social life, entertainment,schooling etc.

sounds like you'll be the first...pretty much everyone here is in DXB, a few in Qatar and KSA, but that's about the extent to the ME secion *l*

Alas.....my other half is a yank and thinks anywhere past Italy is no go ( and he doesn't even wear a baseball hat!). Any words you can provide from a local to help me convince him it is safe?!

Looselips. I am american, I have been to Amman, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea area several times recently.
Yes it isn't exactly Dubai, but just don't head into east amman and its perfectly safe there, and a great place to visit (don't miss Jerash)

The internal security services here know pretty much everything that goes on and armed police are pretty much everywhere. As a poster here stated, you need to make sure where not to go but these are very limited places.
Its a great place, everyone should experience Jordan once in their life.
Now, I must be truly special as nobody has admitted to being an ex pat in Amman - therefore I am unique!!!

Agreed, the hospitality of the jordanians is unmatched, and you will gain several KG while you are there.
