The book depository. Free postage. I know schools here that stock their library this way.

I've looked in Pak'n'save in Christchurch but couldn't find the 'international' bit or any atora suet. Really fancy some dumplings soon. Has anyone seen these things mentioned before around chch? Thanks

www.next.com deliver free to N.Z and the prices are now in N.Z. dollars, previously prices were in US$. Sad thing is Next UK sale starts on line today, but it does not deliver here, no idea why the sale is not on the .com web site - not fair!

Don't forget Customs charges. Basic formula for calculating Customs charges Description (from Customs website)
Description Amount
a) Value for duty of goods (Foreign) $
(b) Value for duty of goods (converted at Customs exchange rate) $
(c) @ Rate of duty x% – $
(d) Shipping and insurance costs (NZ$) $
(e) GST value – (b) + (c) + (d) $
(f) Goods and Services Tax payable at 15% (on total (e)) $
Total Customs charges payable – (c) + (f) $
If the Total Customs Charge is below $60, then no money will be collected (refer to Customs website).
The rate of duty is up to 10%. Books = 0%, Clothing and footwear = 10%.
Note: Exchange rates are set by Customs in 2 week intervals and can be viewed here.
There are a number of examples on the Customs website. From the examples given, it appears that delivery costs can push purchases above the $60 duty level. If buying internationally, make sure you are aware of potential customs charges.

Example of Duty charge:
Clothing cost GBP 80
NZD Value of $160
Rate of duty 10% x $160 = $16
Shipping (GBP20) NZD $40
GST Value = ($160 + $16 + $40 = $214) $214 x 15% = $32 Total Customs Charge $16 + $32 = $48
Because this is under the $60 Customs Charge, no money will be collected! I figure I can spend upto GBP 100 with a GBP20 delivery charge and not pay custom charges for clothing.

Well in theory the com site should be cheaper because they don't have VAT/GST, but it would still pay to compare each time you buy. Of course there's no VAT on books in the UK (exl e-books). If you're considering a kindle I read over in the Australia forum that the uk site had better books (for a Brit anyway).
