I wonder how many vehicle "improvements" actually improve things. For instance most cars these days have permanently-lit dashboards to improve readability. As a result we now see many more instances of drivers forgetting to put their lights on as there isn't the immediate "I can't see my instruments" reminder...obviously not a problem if you also have automatic lights but in their wisdom the manufacturers seem to have allowed a feature-gap in the 2000-2015 era...
