Echoing other discussions, this is not an NZ specific problem.

One of the biggest immigration requirements in the UK is for foreign chefs; the UK doesn't apparently provide the right environment to train in authentic ethnic cuisine, be it Bangladeshi, Mongol, or any other ethnic region.

I think French is more or less covered.

If you have grown up on pies, burgers and chips you may not have the early training within the family to really embrace an ethnic cuisine as passed down by word of mouth and practical demonstration through generations of the immediate family.

With high immigration comes the requirement for familiar foods for the immigrants; nothing unusual when you look around the world at Italian restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Col, what BJ said was very hard hitting. What I said,, not so much. Have you been to Portofinos, Devonport. Also had a good meal at a hotel down by the ferry terminal. At the Viaduct area. Plenty of nice restaurants. This year had Japanese, filipino and a first class seafood restaurant further toward the Harbour Bridge. All exceptional food IMO

Fewer Brits may be heading this way. This weeks International Express headlines Britains Economy Booming. Figures show biggest jump in manufacturing for 25 years. The economy is booming following the vote to leave the EU, it has been revealed ...

I like this, very positive :-)
The UK needs positive, free from the shackles of bureaucracy and nonsensical rules.

I must remember to show that to all the people that have lost their jobs already as a direct consequence of the Brexit vote.

As pointed out in Private Eye this month, the economy is booming because we are IN the EU.

We haven't left yet, so there isn't any Brexit bonus.

The time to start crowing (or eating crow) is after the UK has finally left the EU and then had to manage outside for 2-3 years. That isn't going to be any time soon.

If New Zealand cuts immigration numbers then they are cutting the very people needed to build the desperately needed houses and infrastructure. In Christchurch for example and in many parts of the South Island there is still a shortage of skilled workers in the construction industry and if anything it is busier than it's ever been

Maybe people who were going to lose them anyway
People lose jobs and new ones are created every day, but now the miserys have
something to blame it on...how convenient

I hope the brexit support groups and group hugging sessions are helping people over the worst of it

I just cant be doing with it all, miserable moaning sods that they are.

Out in the real world there are some poor unfortunate souls who have real problems to deal with
and these miserable buggers haven't stopped crying foul and hugging each other for comfort over this for months

They are pathetic

Nope. All jobs lost directly due to Brexit. MrH as expansion plans of company now on hold due to estimated increased costs of all UK business post Brexit, apprentices due to drop in exchange rates and general financial environment meaning loss of income by firm to pay their wages even before Brexit happened and youth worker as her job is entirely dependent on funding from the EU that the local authority can't afford.

I hope the brexit support groups and group hugging sessions are helping people over the worst of it
Most of us are brushing ourselves off and keeping going with alternative plans and supporting each other to do so as that's what socially aware and empathetic people do. Your trolling, facile and aggressive comments, as someone totally unaffected by the vote, just show up your negative, stereotypically, NZ male attitudes talked about so often on here. It's a shame you've adopted them so thoroughly.
