AFAIK, yes the originals have to be submitted and will be returned after verification. Also remember that all copies you submit, must be attested.

There's a very nice book titled "Goa" by Mr Romesh Bhandari, former Foreign Secretary Govt of India. It gives a complete history of Goa down to the present times. Very nice book.

This visa "non refundable" thing seems to be some sort of a bilateral arrangement. The British HC doesn't refund visa fees either if a visa appl is rejected or if visa is issued for a shorter term...
