I think it might be intentional, you're basically saying you've been outside of the country too long and been granted a visa to get back in, so you'd need to apply for a new card once they've figured...

Er... re-entry permit, I-131 ring any bells? If you don't get one and you've been away for long enough you need an SB-1 visa.

Depends on the visa, you might be J-1 or H-1B, assuming they'll even do the paperwork. But if you look at the USCIS processing times that will give you a vague idea.
