Re: Expat Mortgage for UK property - has anyone done this?

I looked into this recently; albeit slightly different in that I already own a couple of properties and wanted an equity release loan to fund a US house purchase.

I went via John Charcol and was...

Returning to UK but working for US company

It seems like we are going to repatriate to the UK this summer.

My wife works for a non-profit and they want to keep her and are happy that she work remotely. As far as I see, this is relatively...

Re: Road trip advice (cont.)

Many thanks Psyman; I looked up the Santiam pass area and its seems to be within Williamette National Forest. Is this the same area where that great Oregon Pinot Noir comes from, if so, would you...

Road trip advice (cont.)

We are planning a 6/7 week road trip before we depart the US. Initial thesis was Boulder to San Fran, taking in as many NPs as possible. Main constraint is surviving the distances with two small...

Re: Sorry, another children and ITIN question

We got ITINs for our children, but didn't need to go to any IRS office. We simply got notarized copies of their passports and gave them to the lawyers, who, I presume, then filed some papers.

Continuing employment with US entity post departure

Currently wrestling as to whether to stay in US or return to UK.

In the event we leave, what is the most expedient way for my wife to continue to provide services to her US employer, a...

Re: Will an MBA help?

IMO, it is unlikely to help you to get to the US per se. If you do one, I would probably try for a top 20 school. IMO, MBA value have been diluted over time and, since you state that you are already...

Current L1A to GC processing times (EB-1)

Trying to decide whether to go down this route. Company does a lot of these and I would be in the EB-1 Multi-National Manager category.

Anyone been through it recently? With thanks.

Re: Help Moving to Colorado from London!!!

Clarify the visa and contract terms, negotiate a good expat re-lo package and the rest will kind of fall into place.

Re: DC or Boston for 30something female?

Please substantiate your remarks that public transportation is not easy to use in DC.

Re: DC or Boston for 30something female?

I would echo the remarks made by Penguinsix.

We have lived in DC for nearly three years and really love it. My wife works for a non-profit focused on business/development and DC really is the...

Re: L1 sponsoring companies in UK

Most blue-chip banks, international law firms, Big4 professional services firms, global IT providers, private equity houses and large corporates use the L1A route. Such programs either fall under...

Re: L1/L2 Renewal

To follow-up on my prior post, we renewed in Nassau this week.
Apart from the pleasant weather, I would note the following:

1. Appointments are quite limited. Aim for 0700.
2. Collection at...

Re: Downsides of Green Card?

The main benefits we see are (a) no longer tied to one employer and; (b) it de-risks house purchase

Downsides of Green Card?

Currently on L1A and company have offered to file for GC. We do a lot of these and I hear it takes around 5 months.

My basic question is: are there any downsides when our mid-term view is to...

Re: L1/L2 Renewal

I can empathize with your situation. We have great attorneys who have prepared all our docs but its still a PITA.

We're in Wash DC, and nearest consulates are Toronto or Nassau. Wait times can...

Re: L2 to Green Card

Apologies, I should have been clearer. We are obviously aware that it would be much easier if my company were to file, but there is a quid pro quo there that might not be appealing. Hence, my...

L2 to Green Card

It's our third year in the US on L1A / L2 (spouse) visas.

My wife's career is going rather well and she would like to stay longer.

I assume that there is a route to GC via L2, but would guess...
