Re: Which tyres?

I would go with a medium price point tire on that case Geoff. I don't know what you have up there. I go to Discount Tyre here in Houston but don't know if they're a national chain.

Re: Quote for a twenty footer?

This is what I understood too, I wasn't allowed to pack my own items due to the insurance. In reality I had packed all the boxes myself, then unpacked them but left them in neat box sized piles!

Re: Coffee and coffee machines

Yes, this is where I'm at with the Keurig's as well. It actually gets very expensive very quickly and is a bit of a pain to use the device (whatever it's called) where you can put your own grounds...

Re: Coffee and coffee machines

Thanks! It's alright though, I'm quite used to being ignored.

Must admit I don't drink a whole lot of tea but back in Blighty recently I started getting a real urge to drink it again so...

Re: Coffee and coffee machines

Oh, and I love the fact that at my local HEB they have a ton of different beans available and grinding machines so you can buy the beans you want and grind them how you want.

Re: What im loving/not loving about visiting UK

I was back recently also (a month in total 2 weeks on my own then 2 weeks with my wife/son) and have a similar list!

There are things I love about both places. I love looking at houses (sad I know)...

Coffee and coffee machines

I love a good coffee but hate paying to go to Starbucks...

Just curious what kind of coffee machines y'all use at home?

I have had two Keurig's (K cup not the newer one) but aren't that fond of...

Re: Knickerbocker Glory

I'm jealous because I've just spent 4 weeks in the UK and didn't have one and not likely to be back in a while, dammit! I have very fond memories of going to London to meet my Dad after work and...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Right! WTF is with that?! It's just an insult to remind us that we're only halfway through the week.

Happy Friday or TGIF posts are particularly bothersome to me at the moment as no day is off...

Re: 2 large explosions at Boston Marathon

That doesn't stop him being given the death sentence at a federal level though does it? I thought that would be on the basis of the charge; if it is a charge of using a weapon of mass destruction...

Re: will USA salary support me and my wife?

I'm slightly confused (doesn't take much!)...

Is this a contract position? Why are we talking in salary/hr?

I'd be very surprised if you could get an L1 on a contract basis

Re: US based, CGT on sale of UK property

Though when it's reported on your tax return they only ask for price paid in USD and price sold in USD which opens you up to xrate fluctuations.
I agree with the others - seek advice from a tax...

Re: Traveling cheaply and well using miles and points

They're not my only options but they're the best two options for me out of IAH without having to make stops. My issue with BA is that my miles are next to worthless as it costs so much to use them. I...

Re: Questions for which we need answers!

We have about 6 (2 pillows and 4 decorative cushions).
The wife sometimes uses two pillows but normally just one, I may use one if I feel so inclined (often I end up not using one at all).

As for...

Re: Hotels in NY/LA/SF

I'm a fan of a hotel called Morgans in NYC (it's Madison and 37th). It's a boutique hotel (no signs outside to advertise it's there).

It really depends what you're looking for though. Hotels are...
