Re: Suggestions/Advice on Locations to Live in the UK

I lived in Malvern, Worcestershire for a while which I liked. It is centrally placed in England and, for work, using the M5, you can access the West Midlands and Bristol areas. The Bristol area has...

Re: Ex-pats and money in Cyprus banks

It seems that this bank in Lithiuania (which is now part of the EU) has also gone bust. No sign of a bailout forthcoming for them. Maybe the EU/Germans have had enough and this is a sign of things to...

Re: UK Tax on Income

I think the waters are getting murkier. It is an applicant's UK income they are interested in, not the income in their current country and the OP's US employer is not registered in the UK with HMRC...

Re: How legally binding is the job contract in UK?

I work in the contract engineering field and this sort of thing happens all of the time. The reality is, no employer wants an employee on site who does not want to be there. Speak to them and tell...

Re: Want to move but cannot afford to move back any suggestions?

And, judging by the questions/requirements on the Set M forms, it is clearly intended to stop arranged marriages.

Re: Spain as a backdoor to the UK?

Being allowed to settle in the UK is based on nationality and not residency although being closer may be benifical when looking for a job, etc. I have come across quite a few Brits who work in the UK...

Re: UK Tax on Income

Is it a case that your employer requires you to be based in the UK for business reasons or it just suits you both that you could continue in the same job working from home in the UK so as to speak?

Re: UK Tax on Income

The whole process is stressful for anyone who goes through this but, there is a required sequence of events you must go through. If followed, it should result in a satisfactory conclusion for you. As...

Re: UK Tax on Income

Yes or there will be a lot of fines flying around. Probably the only way around this is if the OP comes over for short periods of time and retains residency in the US.

Re: UK Spouse Visa Information - evidence required etc

Yes, we started the process in 2009. I suppose under the new rules there is a fee to pay at each stage. It is probably the only governement department that makes a profit.
