We used McGimpseys for the same reason.
Our stuff arrived something crazy like twice that they estimated.
And yes we had plenty of minor damage to furniture . .not even worth the...

Wow, thats cheap we are also a family of 3 in Brisbane

Home phone, 3G internet and 2 mobiles $210 per mth
Groceries +$350 . . we are never under $300
Gas $180 qtr
Elec $+300 qtr

I accepted a different promotion and we are of to live in Melbourne East by mid May.

Our 2 are much younger 3mths & 4.5yrs.

BTW - I worked as a crash test/ design engineer for 2 years, with seat belts and airbags etc.

We had always used our maxicosi seats (dutch) much better...

Yes these registration systems are a pain. I had allot of emails 2 years ago of how and what to do . . but it still seemed overlly complicated.

We are from Templepatrick/ Glengormley . . been living in Brissie 18mths, now considering a move to Perth.

Nothing prepares you for the long distance troubles, it isnt easy to deal with (I know)...

All very valid dadagain.

Rose tinted glasses, seem to come as standard by many xpats in OZ. Allot of people I know simply cant afford to go home or haven't the energy. So they push on 'accepting'...

commuting by car is definitely feasible, but strongly depends on the root and more importantly the time of travel.
Congestion and extremely bad driving is rife.

Rent 510 a week (on acre with roos in the garden, 26km south)
Phone/Broadband 110 / mth
Mobiles 100 / mth- HTC...
