International bank drafts don't work, they have to be "drawn on U.S. financial institutions and payable in U.S. funds". Can your lawyer pay it?

It's bread that gets me here, $5 for a decent loaf. Luckily I make my own most of the time as we get through about 5 loaves a week as a family, so that would be $25 a week on bread alone. :lol:

No idea about LA (we're in Boston), but our living costs are far higher than they were in the UK. We get a 'cost of living adjustment' as part of our expat package, and that's £3k a month (tax free)...
