Re: Adobe houses: Mentioned and maybe worth a thread of their own?

Send Peter on here a PM Jetsam. He has family who can do a comprehensive property survey though not sure if that includes adobe. If the property shows no signs of weathering, slumping, bowing or...

Re: Help needed - buying property

Slightly OT for a sec. So as not to appear a complete naysayer, just want to point out that I know who the OP is viewing with and Polly's post with the article is spot on in this regard, sometimes...

Re: Adobe houses: Mentioned and maybe worth a thread of their own?

There used to be a long thread on adobe properties but as Peter mentioned on another thread, best leave alone if you don't know anything about them or get a specialist to look at it for you as what...

Re: Dog Insurance

Re: Help needed - buying property

I don't think you understand. Most British people have no idea what an adobe house is, nor the methods required when renovating. As for Hungarian builders and recommendations, the majority of...

Re: Help needed - buying property

Re: Help needed - buying property

Most of them will have rotten joists and at least some of the boards will be gone. Worst thing you can do is put in a concrete floor. Best you can do is a suspended wooden floor or limecrete and...

Re: Help needed - buying property

Did I ever tell you about the guy who asked me how to "build" a French drain and three years later was apparently a "master" builder/craftsman? Dug out a drain right next to an adobe wall with no...

Re: Help needed - buying property

Couldn't agree more with this Peter. If I hear of one more adobe house being cement rendered, dry lined or having a damp proof course fitted - I don't know what I'll do as it is so frustrating! "My...

Re: Help needed - buying property

Sorry, I thought you said you read online it was 3%. It used to be dependant on property price but this changed about a year ago and a flat rate of 4% was applied. The rate is not variable across...

Re: Registration Card

We managed to acquire one, about 6 or 7 years ago, when purchasing our house and to this day I am unsure how but we rolled with it. When it was stolen, along with my purse and everything else in it,...

Re: Registration Card

That's the registration card Wolfi, the Lakcim Card is the address card. We had one of them years ago but it was stolen in Germany or France - can't remember which.

Re: Help needed - buying property

Foreigners can now buy land up to one hectare, over this there are regulations that basically restrict ownership to farmers.

A bank account is not necessary to purchase though would be useful for...

Re: Don't Panic....yet! (EU membership)

Likewise, I believed staying and pushing for reform was the likeliest outcome as here at least, the South East, there appears to be no overwhelming desire to leave. However, with Germany and France...
