I would say move to the west, especially Mayo is beautiful and crime is low, it still has a lot of the rural feel about it, lots of now houses for sale and prices would be cheaper than Galway but...

I think of Ireland as expensive since euro came in but my tenants from Scotland and Uk tell me it is much cheaper here. I consider electricity expensive but they say their bills are much cheaper...

Hi, not sure where Snowqueen was attending a Doctor that cost €70 per visit but my local Gp in Mayo( 1 hour from Galway) is €40, yes you have to pay for chemist but max per month is €85 for family....

I live in rural Ireland and have a choice of libraries, swimming pools, just 10 mins drive, also cinema, go carting, horse riding, choice of 2 airports with daily flights to UK, 20 & 30 mins away,...

If you want a quiet life then I would say West of Ieland especially Mayo(which is where I am most familar with) crime is low, great countryside views, housing is cheaper than Dublin/Galway. Check out...

I have lived in Ireland 36 years and had the same problem when I tried to open a savings a/c last week in different bank, I told her I was giving her money not looking for it-- made no difference....
