It's unclear to me that his employer actually knows. Is that possible? I assume he could skip PERM being an L1 (executive) but would the company have sponsored the I-140?

Why not use a DNS based one such as UnoTelly ($5 per month) ? No software needs to be installed, just point your DNS to their servers.
I have been very happy with it so far.

We received our Green Cards in Jan 2013, approximately 1 year after the company started the process. We arrived on a H1B in Oct 2010. There weren't many hitches or delays, so I doubt you can do it...

Yes it took us about 1 year to get the GCs on EB2-ROW. EAD came about 1 week before GC, so was not really necessary.

Being married is probably the first thing you should consider. I don't know...

My lawyer is currently on vacation so I'm just using the document they supplied with my shiny new Green Cards. She did mention I need to come and talk to her about my son's plans to study in the UK.

To be fair to my company's 3rd party lawyers, I have only read their LPR memo and the N-470 was mentioned under the Citizenship section. I mistakenly thought that was the same as the re-entry permit....

Ok thanks, the lawyer only mentioned the N-470 and not the I-131 in their AOS document. I had assumed that was what the N-470 was for. Sorry for the confusion.

We just received our Green Cards - yippee! But our eldest son (17, junior at HS) wants to go to the UK to study for a degree.
So we were thinking of getting him to file an N-470 form before leaving...

@rkm_2013 I would imagine it will be fine with US Immigration. Taxation is another matter, but if you are paid by the UK office then it should be obvious up until the point you transfer over.

I also assume that if you are living in the UK most of the time (e.g. > 183 days per year) then you won't have to pay any tax to the IRS under the dual taxation rules?

Yes only around 200 days from the PERM filing to the GCs being issued which is pretty good.
The PERM was started back in Dec 2011, so around about 1 year altogether.

I had trouble too as 3 of my previous employers are now defunct. Another one was a multi-national and when I requested my former manager sign the experience letter, I got a standard HR response...
