Re: Cheapest way to call UK mobiles
Google Voice isn't bad for prices to UK mobiles, ranging from about 10p to 16p I think. But you have the convenience of being able to use it from your cellphone and don't need any special equipment...

Re: UK to USA visa help
You don't get to decide. The US immigration authorities have already done that for you.
Marry a US citizen gal or look to move somewhere else, are your only real options.

Re: 'Dual' Resident Dilemma
You can't maintain residency in two countries simultaneously. One country has to be your place of residence.
Also you will find that travel insurance is not valid when really the person is not...

Re: International phone cards? or what do you use?
Google Voice all the way here.
If you have an android phone, integration is seamless and you can tell it to automatically route calls through GV for just international calls.
It's great to call mum...

Re: Uk to USA with children!
He doesn't get a green card, he gets an IR-1 visa. If he successfully enters the US with it, he is mailed his green card in a few weeks.
Seems like you need to learn a lot more about the process...

Re: Uk to USA with children!
That's not enough info to determine if your move is even possible.
Are YOU a US Citizen? If so, you'd need to sponsor your non-USC spouse and kids for visas, and need either a lot of cash in the...

Re: Chicago for one day?
If you want some excitement, you could take a taxi ride.
I seem to remember a heart-pumping episode while I was there when inside a cab doing 55 in a 35 zone with a smoking driver and gospel music...

I've connected to my ibVPN service using the built-in android VPN software and listened to match coverage on BBC 5-Live, without issues, on my Asus Transformer.

Re: Multiple Passports Question
One wonders why you think you would need to possess a French passport, when a 'UK' passport is valid for you to live and work in France anyway, since it's in the EU area.
Unless having French...

Re: AA Chicago - Manchester Service
ORD-MAN is usually our preferred route.
And yes, the prices are ridiculous. I need to get back for a holiday, but in this economy, laying out $3k for two tickets and incidentals is just too much at...

Re: UK phones in US
It's not relevant if they are in the US as they would be a separate entity anyway, it's not like they would be able to continue with the same contract.
Since you are leaving the UK how would they...

Re: Imperial Measurements
Yeah it's great having everything in base 12 .. or 14 .. or 16 - much more 'sensible'.
They should immediately change the currency here so that there are 160 cents to the dollar, and a "10" dollar...

Re: Want to keep my UK driving licence
Nonsense. Where did your idea that you can be resident in multiple countries come from?
You can only be legally resident in one country at a time. And for the US, you have to be a resident to...

Re: Want to keep my UK driving licence
COB, you should be aware that you cannot be considered 'resident' in both countries simultaneously. It's one or the other.
Since you will need access to the US, you need to maintain your US...

Re: Cell Phone Contract Advice
Do the math.
UK average population per sq mile = 666
[Contiguous] US average population per sq mile = 104
= many more towers needed. Infrastructure costs are way higher where the land mass is...
