We took ours to Spain...

Re: Taking dogs to UK for visit

Thanks gb and dmu. Mine(s) of information as always.

They do all have rabies jabs - when we first arrived we met a local farmer at the vet who told us that rabies is on the increase in France, and...

Taking dogs to UK for visit

We are taking our two dogs to the UK for a week. Never done it before.

They have pet passports...

Re: Leaving adult kids in uk

Pretty sure dmu has it right.
French inheritance is horrendously complicated (our notaire says the only happy families in France are those who have not received an inheritance). I could describe...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

A moot was an Old English meeting for discussion.
Nowadays, only used I think in Law colleges and the phrase "a moot point"
Moot usually nowadays means a law students debating competition - really...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

The ECB is trying to emphasise that to members. Of course, IF they are still sovereign, whether they choose to implement Lex Monetae is a sovereign matter. But they cannot, I would think, set it to...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

I agree. In fact, I would think just about any rational person would agree.
But whoever said the EU was rational?
The ECB made it very plain to Italy two weeks ago that Lex Monetaewould prevail....

Re: Hello there, newbies looking to move to France

We did it two weeks ago in 5.30. (Google Maps gives 6 hours, but I did boot it- English plates that time)
But I...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

And that is the polite bit!

Actually they did another paper a year or so ago saying the Euro was failing Europe, and was doomed. I will try to look it out.
The bit I really do not understand is...

Re: Hello there, newbies looking to move to France

TP is right. Commuting is VERY stressful. I did it for one week a month (which is much easier) for about five years. I loved the Dordogne, but travel to the UK is a bit more from there, which is one...

Ah, but with one jump he was free!

Point being that somebody has to finance Italy. Pensions can no longer do it. International markets look closed, or closing. And the ECB is "running down" its...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

Could we widen this a bit? It seems to be getting even narrower, and there are big moves afoot.
Perhaps we could retitle it.

Had they been allowed to leave, they would be well on the road to recovery by now

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

Very true, but 1976 did provoke enormous anger throughout the world.
In order to avoid a repetition, the IMF adopted limits on the amount any nation could borrow. Broadly a multiple of their SDRs...

Re: Road to a Grecian turn?

There I am afraid I do disagree. IMO it was unconscionable for the IMF to participate in the Greek bailout in the first place. Period.
The IMF is broadly a vehicle for financial aid and...
