Re: Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

Well I have reset the PIN, but I’m not really sure what is to prevent someone doing that again. You only need to know the info that was already known to be able to do that. I’m hoping one of the...

Re: Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

You can apply online, and request payment online, at least in Texas. I suspect that might be what is going on. Before becoming a USC the lack of an alien number may have prevented any successful...

Re: Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

Yes, I can’t make an account. There is already a PIN. They won’t have been able to do it before citizenship because they won’t have had my alien registration number.

It’s reported by e-mail, but...

Re: Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

Is your son working? Weeze is not, and didn’t receive anything.

The fraud line just sends you to a voice mailbox with no instructions on what to leave. There is an e-mail address on the TWC...

Re: Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

I’ve had the attempt at ID theft last year, my credit is locked up tighter than a “insert metaphor of choice”. I find it being 1 day after my ceremony overly coincidental. But I also know all states...

Became a citizen, received 4 letters about Unemployment Insurance

So Weeze and I became citizens on the 15th June. Yesterday (22nd June) I received 4 letters from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). They are:

1) A cover letter that states “TWC sends this UI...

3 New USCs Today

Both Weeze and I became USCs today (along with mini-Weeze, but she didn’t have to come along). Our initial ceremony was due to be 1st April, which got postponed. Rather than being a 2000 person...

Re: Our state governor closed schools for the rest of the school year

I will be pleased I don’t have to sit through a 5th grade “graduation” - it’s a non event.

I am wondering what impact this whole thing is having on the parents/kids who do a whole lot of...

Re: Price of gas update...

Gas prices are down, but not as much as your 401k. My (very biased) view is that these things can go too low. I like oil in the $50-$60 range!

Re: Here we go. Time to file for citizenship!

Yes you only have to give one.

Apparently there will be about 2500 people at our oath ceremony. And they are holding 3 a month. Houston is busy right now!

Re: Here we go. Time to file for citizenship!

Just had the interview in Houston today. We filed in May last year. Looks like our oath ceremony is probably going to be in April.

Re: Let's talk about cars

Just having the flexibility for that 70% over the next 6 years is worth the $400. Nice deal!

Re: Equifax data breach

Well I’ve just been dealing with someone trying (and failing) to get cards using my data. It’s still a hassle, even if you have monitoring. I have a fraud alert on.

Re: Houston Neighbourhoods and Estate Agent?

A while back us swamp residents got together to create a guide to Houston. This is somewhat dated, but still informative:

As far as your specific...

Re: moving dogs to USA

KLM never used to have summer temperature restrictions - this was 2010, when I was looking into bringing dogs to the USA. I did it myself through KLM, to Houston. It may/may not be an issue but needs...

Re: Pet Insurance

No, quite the opposite. We had to take Sam in for emergency stuff. It was about $4k, and didn’t have a happy ending. The insurance (petplan, I think) covered maybe $1k. I haven’t bothered with it for...
