Try the Bayshore outlook building in coal harbour - thats 100% rental managed. I lived there in 2008, paid around $1,200 for a 750sq ft 1 bedroom. Can't say I came accross any other 100% rental...

Also - don't go direct to the banks - get a mortgage broker and it'll be much easier plus they should get you a better rate. Our mortgage is through TD and walking into a TD branch we were quoted...

No idea - but IMO theres no harm completing the GTF form and having immigration stamp it. Better that than getting an unexpected customs bill

Also what happens if we are citizens by time of birth, or if one parent is and one isn't?

Yes - that is correct, and presumably also eligible for British citizenship also. I'm more concerned about Canadian status beacuse we plan to move back at some point.

Fees will be high and you'll likely get screwed on the exchange rate.

It might be better to mail it to someone in the UK and get them to deposit if for you, or mail to your bank in the UK...

1) Family nearby
2) Good career move
3) International experience is a big plus on your resume
4) More money and IMO (having lived for 5 years in London and 5 years in Vancouver) on that...

If the family can live comfortably on $95k in Vancouver, they can easily afford similar lifestyle in London on GBP74k.

Above that threshold I'm sure you get a credit for any foreign tax paid. UK tax is generally higher than US so not really anything to worry about when considering citizenship.
