But rereading that thread shows that I was in status...

I-539 Denied, Does it Matter

Hi Everyone,

I was in the US on an H1 visa valid through 2016. But in summer 2014 I got a job offer in Europe so I quit my job and moved out of the US three weeks later.

To cover the three...

Re: Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

Okay this is sounding more and more appealing. I just idly filled out the form and didn't hit any snags... hmmm.....

Will take a closer look tonight but this has, again, been extremely useful and...

Re: Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

Thanks for the prompt follow up. I'd only need 2 or 3 weeks - quit in July, leave in August.

I'm even pretty sure I could apply successfully by myself, but just in case it's denied, will that...

Re: Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

D'oh, I should stop believing things I've read outside of be.

Okay, I think I'll file the I-539. It looks pretty easy, while attorneys are charging $900-1300 to do it for me. I know the gold...

Re: Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

Thanks! Yeah I've heard transferring from an H1 to a b2/visitor visa is extremely difficult to do. But I might be wrong!

Re: Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

Ah excellent, thank you crg.

Do you know which status I would be adjusting it to? I might just hire an attorney to do it for me... are Fong/Folinksy/the other board attorneys still around?

Quitting on H1 Timeline and Re-entry?

Hello everyone,

I'm a British citizen on an H1 since last year and have just been offered a position back in Europe. My question is about the timeline for quitting.

Apparently, as soon as I...

Re: UK and US mobile conundrum

I think everything you've just said makes sense - you can get a sim for your UK phone and a phone for your UK sim, if you go into a T-Mobile store you can get both in one place and check...

Re: Visa Processing at Newark

Quick update for anyone in a similar situation in the future:

I think there was some confusion on my part - there actually was no 'visa processing'. The PoE officer just took my prints and waved...

Re: Visa Processing at Newark

In the grand scheme of an expensive 10 hour trip an extra half hour/surcharge doesn't matter one jot, but if I can make a better decision based on others' experiences then I will - isn't that the...

Re: Visa Processing at Newark

Thanks Pulaski, I'll take 20 minutes as a best case scenario and plan for 40. I'm sure Newark will have something alcoholic to keep me entertained if I need to wait for the pick-up!

Re: Visa Processing at Newark

Thanks, it's a car service so I think they charge if they're waiting too long. On the other hand, if I say 5:00 then I'm stuck at the airport for half an hour (or however long)!

Ah I think understand what you're saying: Regardless of whether it's EB2 or EB3, by the time I get a current date I'll have to wait 180 days, by which point I'm likely to already have gotten my GC,...

Okay, I'm going to take a more extreme (and forgive me for saying so, but, modern) spin on Pulaski's argument:

Re: EB2 Qualification

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The impression I get is that once the AC21 'kicks in' I can change employer without losing progress on my GC?

If that's true, and assuming the same April 2013...

EB2 Qualification

Hey everyone,

I know the EB2 vs. EB3 threads are done to death, I've just read a half dozen of them, and I also know I should talk to an attorney, which I will.

BUT

My understanding of the...
