I'm generally not a patient person but if there's one lesson this process teaches, it's patience. Started in Jan and my interview is next week, you DO get there in the end! ;)

I didn't realise they did criminal checks on the foreign spouse at this stage, surely that would eliminate the point of the police certificate at the second stage? No wonder it all takes so long.

Well, any criminal record will show on the police certificate. But there are other "hits" or lists that you don't want to appear on.

I think the reference might be to case numbers always being available for the spouse of US Citizens but other people (siblings etc) might have to wait for a case number to become available. That's...

It took 150 days for our I-130 approval. No RFEs. But we were part of a batch sent to Rome for processing.

Yep, I'm a Jan filer who went to Rome. I did delay 1-2 weeks sending back the applicant readiness. Who would have thought after 6 months the husband wouldn't be ready to send me the forms! xx
