Re: Teaching opportunities

Agreed, when I say degree I should have said certification or teacher education.

So what I meant for our area is we have some people who have no teacher education at all and just undergrad degrees...

Re: Teaching opportunities

I live in BC and there is a huge shortage of teachers where I am (East Kootenays - Elkford, Sparwood, Fernie). We have some teachers on letters of permission here who have undergrad degrees but not...

Re: Where to find updates on Flight Caps

The plan is for her to study law. She had to take two online courses in high school and really struggles with getting things done. In person she averages about a 90+, online though was a huge...

Re: Where to find updates on Flight Caps

Oh I get that it works both ways and sucks just the same. Ideally there would be a system that would prioritize reasons for wanting to leave Australia, I just don’t see them trying to implement...

Re: Where to find updates on Flight Caps

My daughter (age 17), was due to move back to Australia at the beginning of October, she has now been bumped to the earliest available flight at the end of February (that does not cost a ridiculous...

Re: Child (age 17) returning for Uni

Thank you! I had a look around and I'm feeling a lot better. There seem to be lots of affordable places and a bunch were even available on a shorter term as well.

Re: Child (age 17) returning for Uni

From all of my research, she will be paying domestic fees provided she gets into a CSP (commonwealth-supported place). It sounds like all (or most) offers for undergraduate degrees are for...

Westpac - suspension of NEW migrant banking accounts

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to open a new Westpac bank account from overseas. This is normally an option and you could open one and deposit money and activate it on arrival. Due to covid they have...

Re: Child (age 17) returning for Uni

Thank you! I was hoping she could rent short-term room at one of the universities, I know Griffith did have spaces they would rent to non-enrolled students on a short-term basis (this seems to be on...

Re: How are you spending NYE?

I’m a bit late to the party but I had a very boring start to the new year. Around mid December I was in an ice hockey tournament and broke both Tibia and Fibia and am now sporting a nice titanium rod...

Re: Clippy, etc 2006 applicants

We applied in 2006 and moved to Brisbane area in 2007. We came back to Canada in 2010 to be near family while the kids were little. It turns out that was a good decision as we both lost our dads...

Re: University Questions - OZ citizenship but in Canada now

Yes, the job situation will be a factor when the time comes. I imagine we would wait until the mining industry is on the upswing again and is dying for engineers. Until then we are in no rush and...

Re: University Questions - OZ citizenship but in Canada now

Thank foe the great information. I hadn’t realized that the HECS loan couldn’t be used for accommodation so that is a surprise. You are correct that student loans in Canada cover both tuition and...

Hey there everyone! I've been away for ages as well. Once we moved back to Canada in 2010 I gradually stopped visiting as I got busy with work, kids sports and life in general. I've been poking...

Re: University Questions - OZ citizenship but in Canada now

That's a fair question. I'm equally happy in both countries and I'd like to go back someday but don't have a date in mind as of yet. We just relocated across Canada to BC about a year ago and just...

That definitely clarified a few things for me. I had come across the QTAC site and was going to look into that later, so I think I'll get her to set up an account...
