Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

I absolutely agree and feel for you. The Aus government has to be charged with criminal negligence. I wonder may be the British government may complain, make a phone call, or whatever it is they...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Sorry as I've mentioned before (I guess) I really don't give a toss whether I am temporary or permanent or on visa 457 or 247 or 999 or 12345 or whatever - fact is the agent/company insisted on...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Exactly!

BTW, 12K x 5 years contract length = GBP 60K; that's a lovely car or a good deposit on a home or an additional gift to my sister whose losing her battle against bloody nasty sodding...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Yes I agree.

For me personally I try to work elsewhere from UK/Europe/US for tax reasons!

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Great quote I completely support, thanks for posting!

In your last paragraph "people" includes companies/agencies! My company and agency refused to do anything until they "know what the changes...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

The government/nanny state regime sucks. The place itself and the people I've met are great.

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Fine, no worries! Job in Indonesia is site based with a negotiated amount net in my bank per day worked, plain and simple - the local tax laws etc. will be of no interest to me. Haven't got the job...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

The agent (British) and company (Australian) have put me in a predicament (if I'm in a predicament that all that is).
But I'm not in a predicament - better opportunities in other parts of the world;...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Again, the rights and wrongs of LAFHA are irrelevant. The fact is that it HAS been available and utilised by the companies over many years, and is now being pulled from under people's feet with...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

1. The notice given was less than 2 months - between the budget day and 30 June. Prior to that was just consultative.
2. Whether LAFHA was right or not is irrelevant. The fact is that it WAS...

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13

Yes I agree with you!

The LAFHA payment even appears on my fortnightly payslip!

It's been fun ranting. See you in Indonesia - anyway the chicks are cheaper.

Re: LAFHA - Budget 2012/13
