Re: Wahoo... EXCELLENT school report

Never had this sort of target when I was 4... then again, I was taught by nuns. We didn't need school reports to do well; we had fear instilled in us from an early age.

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

I suppose the humidity is where the beach comes in... One can go swimming quite easily when the weather gets unbearable.

Has anyone ever been to Tasmania?

It sounds quite extreme then.....

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

I forgot to mention one thing... I suffer from heatstroke if the temperature rises above 28 or 29. It happened to me in Croatia, and I could do nothing but sleep or swim, because it was just too hot...

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

I used to live in Queensland. I find it a bit of a backwater. And I'm not fussed on being around Kiwis, since I'm not one. I was born there to an Irish father and Canadian mother and have spent the...

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

Possibly is better for me as I have relatives in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast and somewhere in southern NSW. I'd say Sydney is roughly better located. But...

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

The visa isn't really my main concern.. I'm still in the dark as to whether to move to Sydney or Melbourne! :P

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

If I were to study it in a combined degree with Nursing, which is a possibility that I have considered, I could quite easily qualify for skilled migration. Alternatively teaching or social work. I...

I was born in NZ to a Canadian mother of Italian birth who has Canadian, British and NZ citizenship. Unfortunately, I myself am ineligible for Canadian...

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

ANU is well-ranked, but Canberra seems to me a very boring city. Melbourne is slightly higher ranked, though they're comparable. My research also tells me it has a lot to offer culturally and there...

Re: Melbourne vs. Sydney

I'm a dual UK/NZ citizen, hence eligible for domestic Australian fees and SC visa. My interest is purely based on whether or not I can get HECS or have to pay upfront, and the way I go about becoming...

Melbourne vs. Sydney

Hi all,

I'm looking to move to Australia in either mid-2013 or beginning of 2014, primarily for university study, though I will also be working part-time and hoping to travel around Oz a little.

Re: Auckland or Blackburn

Birthplace rightly counts for very little. My friend was born in Manchester and doesn't even have British citizenship, as her parents are both Canadian. She left the UK at age 3 for Canada, then came...

Re: Auckland or Blackburn

This is the same issue I have with New Zealand. I've lived in quite a few different places - I'm 18 - and I find New Zealand far too passive and apathetic. However, I'm also at the stage where I am...

Tories :)

Hi there,

Was just wondering whether any expats would be interested in getting involved with an Auckland/all NZ branch of Conservatives Abroad? It's mainly an idea at this stage, but the point of...

First Passport Application Timeline

Hi,

If I can get my application sorted in the next two weeks with countersignatory etc, would it be safe to also book my flights to the UK for July 17/18th? I have not held a UK passport before....

Re: C1 Form Queries - Previous Passports

I was thinking I would just tick 'Yes' and write out the details in the explanatory notes. I've already ticked that I'm applying for a First Adult Passport on the front page. It's just so confusing :/

Re: C1 Form Queries - Previous Passports

So does that mean I tick 'no, I have not previously held a passport'?

My mum was born in Italy to Canadian parents in 1968 and raised in Toronto.

Hello,

I am a New Zealand-born British citizen by descent. I was born in 1993 to a Northern Irish father who was married to my Canadian mother in New Zealand in 1991. My question is: in Section 4,...
