I would suggest a visit to your Mairee office and also you local Office de Tourisme (which is part of the Communite de Communes).

There should be a phone number for you nearest functioning...

There may well be a system in place, or in the pipeline to identify "residents" in the Schengen area. An ID card , or a stamp in the passport.
