Re: Anyone used Norwegian Air?

Just to drop back into this, our flights were totally fine. The limited luggage is a bit odd to get your head around, but you're warned and it wasn't a big deal. We were only going for a few days...

Re: US post interview etiquette

I think a quick "thank you for your time, pleasure to meet you" type e-mail is fine.

Anything more and it gets to be begging and as an interviewer I don't like it.

I'd say if in doubt on what...

Re: Anyone used Norwegian Air?

Thanks for the tips! Yes, on the baggage, I noticed they had max weights on hand luggage. Don't think I've ever had that weighed. And anything over 10 kilos costs more.

Sound like we'll be...

Anyone used Norwegian Air?

I did a bit of a search but couldn't find much on this airline.

We have a wedding to go to in July for someone I've known since I was 12 years old, so highly obligated, but I winced at typical...

Re: Grand Prairie woman gets 8 years for illegally voting twice

The lady claims, truthfully or otherwise, that she basically didn't know the difference between the rights of a LPR and a USC.

Frankly, it's in the realms of possibility.

I'd hazard a guess...

Re: Things you'll never say...

I've adjusted a few phrases and finally got used to saying "how are you?" when I neither have the time nor interest for a response (this is typically mutual).

But while I'll adjust to "tomayto" or...

Re: Re-wire UK lamps?

We had a nice, old wooden standing lamp I wanted to bring. I did so then bought a cheapo standing lamp from Walmart, took the wiring and bulb socket out of it and put it in my lamp. Still going...

Re: What ever happened to .... ? (the missing BE member thread)

In a narcissistic moment, I kind of missed me on here :-)

Haven't posted in nearly 2 years.

I became a USC about 4 years ago. My interest faded a little in the immigration system, as did my...

Re: British Bank rant

I'd partly agree, but I don't think the second in particular didn't have my info in front of him and was just seemingly going through ridiculous motions. Case in point, I shouldn't have to spell our...

British Bank rant

I tend to find British banks hopeless and avoid at all costs.

When I get a fraud alert on my US cards, I get notified. I call and very quickly either confirm or deny the most recent charge was...

Re: Job Related - Telephone Interview

I’d say an e-mail to follow up is acceptable after 6 days. I’d go with the general tone of “Just like to say how my interest in the position increased after our phone conversation. Should you have...

I struggle with all that here. I tried arranging a bachelor night for someone. Actually ended up with 10 people, but the e-mails and the stupid excuses of people that didn’t come got ridiculous.

Re: Black Friday deals - what's everyone bought?

Got the Kindle Fire HD (prvious generation) for $99.99 from Best Buy. Strolled in at 9AM on Fri so certainly didn't have to knock over old ladies. Loving it so far. Was considering an iPad but was...

Re: Anyone a YMCA member?

The Y near me is super expensive. We were members for a while but had to give it up.

They're currently building a Planet Fitness 1.4 miles from my house. Sign up deal is $1 sign up, $10/month...

Re: Cities in America that make you feel at home?

I'd go along with that. The Boston suburbs and even Boston itself definitely has an English feel to it (compared to a lot of places anyway).

OT: UK law regarding "tenants in common"

I have a slightly off topic question, but perhaps UK folks have dealt with a similar situation when it comes to aging parents.

My father passed away about 18-months ago. My parents owned a rental...

Re: Discrimination against a non US citizen

It’s probably just a generalization from someone not understanding the intricacies of immigration and who can live here legally. Chances are, if you showed up and explained, you’d be fine.

I flew...

Re: BBC America HD on DirecTV

I don't know, as I'm a cheap git and don't subscribe to the channel :)

But did see it pop up in the guide.

Found I could live without 27 episodes of Dr Who per day.
