Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

Ian, you are correct-- absolutely nothing happens if you file on day 1 of 90 or day 89 of 90-- I was just referring to those little things that happen in life that can sometimes make us side-tracked...

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

That is correct, you will receive a 12 month extension letter in the mail.

Yes, the jist is that currently you have a two year, conditional green card and to receive an unconditional, 10 year GC--...

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

You are eligible to file Form I-751, which removes the conditions of your 2 year GC and ultimately ends with you having your 10 year GC anytime within the 90 day window of the expiration of your 2...

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

That is so true!

At least the next step is only one Form to complete and by the looks of things you will be eligible to file for the ROC about a month after me!

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

Congrats! I expect your shiny new GC to be in your mailbox within the next 10-12 days. Just keep an eye out for those "We have mailed your card" and "The USPS has picked up your card" emails and...

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

Jeff, with all due respect these are the current time-lines that other users are posting on VJ-- now granted there are a lot more people who have filed than what appear on VJ but the evidence of...

Re: AOS taking FOREVER!

Current times are contrary to way it is suppose to work. Most AOS's applications that are processed at the local USCIS with an interview are taking around 90 days from start to finish while the...

Re: CA driver's license/greencard

It should also be noted that the DMV will only issue you the DL for the duration of the EAD, which will be 12 months and so once you get your GC you will need to pay the cost of a new DL.

The...

Re: Young Family moving to Denver CO.

There isn't too much in between Denver and Golden-- Lakewood maybe? Generally speaking, you will live in one or the other and the neighborhoods will depend on which you choose.

Rent will vary...

Re: My AOS package

Form I-693 is not required for those AOS from a K1 visa since they have a medical done before they get their visa.

If you are adjusting status from something other than a K1, then yes you will...

Any idea how long one has to file AOS after marriage on the K1?

I understand that the only obligation is to get married within 90 days of entering, just wondering if there was a maximum amount of...

Re: Strange happenings at immigration LAX!

I actually prefer it-- back in '08 we flew direct Denver-London and while the experience at Heathrow was a PITA it was much more enjoyable than the return leg of Manchester-O'Hare-Denver.

I wish...

Re: I-130 and I-485

I am coming to the end of my I-130/AOS journey (interview is on Tuesday) and so after keeping track of current applications, most people are receiving their EAD in an average of 60 days from the date...

Re: Looking to move to US - advice on location needed

Denver is very do-able on that budget, it just depends what you are looking for in a house-- size, bedrooms etc.

We only pay $1,375 and live in the Wash Park neighborhood-- commute to downtown...

Re: Looking to move to US - advice on location needed

I would disagree with both of the bolded points, not so much because they are false statements but simply because the same could be said for almost any city! You are going to get rush hour traffic no...

Re: G-325A for AOS (F-1 to spouse)...simple? (?)

I am certainly no expert but I believe that residency definitions and standards for tuition purposes are set by the State and not by the individual school. I guess a school can always choose to not...

Re: G-325A for AOS (F-1 to spouse)...simple? (?)

Re: G-325A for AOS (F-1 to spouse)...simple? (?)

The USCIS generally understands that newly-weds do not have much in the way or financial co-mingling and if you don't have...
