Have you checked out McKinnon? Superb secondary school, but prices are rising because of this. Also it's just round the corner form St Kilda, but the roads can get very busy during rush hours...

The cakes and pastries are amazing. I work at one of the Jewish schools and they often have a buffet supplied by AVIV :)

AVIV does excellent cakes, but their coffee tastes like crap. Elwood Patisserie does excellent cakes, their coffee isn't great but is passable, and they do great bread and pastries too :)
