Re: ECAS and citizenship

Ok thanks.

Well there's 2 of us so hopefully both oath invites won't go astray. Both of our ECAS status are stuck on "We started processing.." so whatever glitch is preventing them from updating...

Re: ECAS and citizenship

Thanks!

Well we haven't quite got there yet, just 1 more hurdle.

The thing about this and ECAS though - is that both the test invitation and the oath invitation are sent out by regular,...

ECAS and citizenship

Hi guys,

Really quick question - does anyone know how ECAS works and how it is updated?

We took our Citizenship test last Tuesday (7th June) but our ECAS seems to be "stuck" on "We started...

Re: Couple of citizenship questions

Hi all - thanks for the reply and advice!

Ok will just wait until January and post both our applications together with the cover letter you mentioned!

Reading the additional info linked - it...

Couple of citizenship questions

Hi,

We're British ex-pats living in Canada as permanent residents. We are approaching being here for 4 years and so are now preparing to apply for citizenship in the coming few months. I have a...

Re: Bill C-24 comes into effect today

Yeah I was planning to maybe apply for Citizenship in November this year once I had my 1095 days - so now that's on hold for another year.

On the plus side allegedly it will be a lot faster to get...

Re: TFW/LMO Suspended for Food Services

I had heard the government were partially subsidizing the wages of immigrants in the food industry at one point, thus not really giving employers much of an incentive to hire Canadian...

Re: citizenship applied for 2012 - PR runs out

So as long as you remain in Canada and meet the 730 days / 5 years you can just keep living there and working there forever without having to formally renew anything?

Re: citizenship applied for 2012 - PR runs out

If your PR card runs out and citizenship has not yet been granted, are you not out of status?

Or do the citizenship application grant you implied status?

Although under the current rules we'll...

Re: Canadian citizenship rules face broad reform in 2014

Hmm not sure I like the sound of the "longer to qualify" part.

I will be eligible (under current rules) to apply for citizenship around this November 2014, so knowing my luck they'll implement...

Photos for renewing UK passport whilst in Canada

My apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Have any expats recently had experience in renewing a British passport whilst they are resident in Canada and getting the right photographs?

I...

Re: Citizenship

We're looking to apply for citizenship at the end of next year once we're eligible (1095 days in Canada in 4 year period as PRs).

As I understand it, the wait can be lengthy - maybe 18 months to...

Re: How does CIC update the count of complete applications?

My understanding is that it is all the applications which have passed the completeness check. If you fall within the cap after the completeness check they're not going to check again when the clerk...

Re: My situation has changed dramatically

Whooops I just read the "last year" part so I am guessing this means your residency was done in October 2011, not October 2012?

I think as long as you landed prior to October 2012 you should be...

Re: My situation has changed dramatically

One point to consider - if residency was obtained through spousal sponsorship, isn't there a requirement to stay together for at least 2 years after residency is granted?

I'd heard CIC had...

Re: Canada FSWP / Total received applications

I completely agree. 1112, 2174 and 2147 are all definitely full probably at least 4 times over by now.

And I also think it's really stupid of CIC to create more work for themselves by not giving a...

Re: FSW 2013 - Complete Applications Counted

I should take a leaf out of CIC's book.

Basically I should legislate my entire backlog of issues (I am a software developer) away and then put a cap on any future issues I get allocated.

I'll...

Re: FSW 2013 - Complete Applications Counted

Take a look here, this spreadsheet (yes I do have permission to link it!) has been compiled from applicants from David Cohen's forum. He is an immigration lawyer and the forum is at...

Re: FSW 2013 - Complete Applications Counted

I think not. The spreadsheet on David Cohen's forum over 300 people have sent their apps in, and that's just the small % that posted on that forum.

No way is the total count only 65 - basically I...

Re: FSW 2013 - Complete Applications Counted

Nah I think they received and opened 27 applications on the very first day.

The spreadsheet from the David Cohen forum have 279 applications alone sent, and that presents probably only a small %...

Re: FSW 2013 - Complete Applications Counted

Which begs the question why post the first day's data only when there have been almost 50 days since 4th May?

Possibly the most useless update in CIC history.

The only useful element to this is...

Re: Reapply again

I believe, and this was certainly the case with previous MI and I imagine it still is, that you can be considered on several NOCs.

There is something on the forms in which you can list the order...

Re: How long does a Skilled Worker Visa take?

Hi, from experiences of others recently getting visas I think the actual FSW application times are coming in around the 12 to 18 month mark from when you first apply at CIO.

As others have said,...

Re: Proof of employment if company no longer exists for FSWP application

Good news!

Be sure though to include a letter of explanation as to why the employment reference couldn't be obtained. It makes no difference to the points but you don't want to fail the...

Re: Is it tool late? FSW 2013

Oops correction this is 2147 and not 2174 (so easy to get those 2 mixed up!).

However, I think if you take the 30 applicants from 2147 and apply the same 2% to 5% formula you are looking at 600 to...
