Re: Buying a Car

There are annual run-out models, but I'm not sure what time of year that is.

I suspect whatever ambitions the dealer has about boosting sales for EOFY are cancelled out by the amount of cash that...

Re: Buying a Car

I got a discount for not having a trade-in. I assume this is their 'standard discount'. I did buy with finance though. Expensive few months it was too!

Re: Buying a Car

You can get finance immediately on arrival (according to CommBank) as a 457 but will have difficulty later on as you are seen as a flight risk. I know for Three they required me to be in the country...

Re: rental rockingham

It wasn't clear that you were referring to the Aus rental market. I have found the renting experience quite positive here and have never been ripped off. I think it's better here than Ireland because...

Re: rental rockingham

You trying to start up that old chestnut again?;) There are HUGE positives to renting too. It's down to the individual and their circumstances.:)

Re: Annual Leave Hoarding a 'Disgrace' - Minister

The Irish tourism industry relied on domestic spending for a long time too and followed a similar cycle (when it tailed off, or rather stopped dead). Only now they're starting to get the overseas...

Re: legal advice much needed - help!

That's too often the case with employment contract issues. Maybe you need to wait until you have funds or maybe look for some free legal advice for starters. There should be community organsiations...

Re: legal advice much needed - help!

That was a bit of a brain fart on my part, I apologise. I think 'restraint of trade' protects the employer rather than the employee, it would only be applicable if he were trying to sue you (I...

Re: legal advice much needed - help!

Have you ever heard of 'restraint of trade'? I'm not sure if you can sure for damages.

Re: rental rockingham

It's not advisable to take a long term let sight unseen. In fact I think it may be illegal. You should temper the feeling of insecurity/homelessness with thoughts of the risks of renting sight...

Re: Irish guy dies on Rio Tinto site

It is indeed a very sad event. Hopefully his family receive the support they need, I've no doubt they will. Hopefully they'll get any information they need from an inquest and/or any other...

Re: young driver

At least when they're on their Ps you know that they have an excuse. I wouldn't say Aussie drivers are any worse than anywhere else in the world. Everyone is a rubbish driver compared to me though,...

Re: Virgin Australia & Singapore Airlines hook up

Anything you earned between June 2010 and November 2010 would be credited back to you then. I'm guessing around 2900 points.

Re: Virgin Australia & Singapore Airlines hook up

I think they may have just divided by 100. But the new system only takes into account the last 12 months and it's a daily review so maybe your status points would expire quicker.

Re: Virgin Australia & Singapore Airlines hook up

I got bumped up to Gold in the review. Have a look at your account. It should be easier to maintain Gold. You might make platinum when it comes out.

FYI, my Etihad flights in Jan posted within two...

Re: young driver

I think the P plate system is great. I understand it's being adopted in some form in Ireland too. It helps to make sense of a lot of behaviour and you adapt accordingly.

Re: Irish guy dies on Rio Tinto site

I am naturally suspicious given your bigoted comments in the past about the Irish and Ireland. Why the need to mention the "many Irish backpackers flooding into WA"?

The original poster seems to have a chip in his shoulder with regard to Ireland. I'm wondering what's his agenda here.

Re: Anyone Quitting Aus due to High Cost of Living

I believe it's now more economical for low mileage users, less economical for high mileage users (because they got rid of three tiers and left one blanket rate). I understand there's a bit of a...
