Re: Dual citizenship children Canadian passport

Thank you for replying. When you dig down its quite a grey area. I'd happily apply for the passport but I need to apply for the citizenship certificate first which I am told takes 5-7 months. Which...

Re: Dual citizenship children Canadian passport

Ok thank you. Is this still the case even though she technically hasn't been granted Canadian citizenship yet? I know she is automatically eligible for it but as we have not formally applied for it...

Re: Dual citizenship children Canadian passport

I should add we have not applied for any proof of citizenship so she is not registered on any system. She's eligible for citizenship but we have not applied for it. Not sure if that makes a...

Dual citizenship children Canadian passport

Hi

My children are dual national British/Canadian. The eldest has a Canadian passport and was born there. My youngest was born in the UK but gets her dual nationality from her father and currently...

Re: Renewal of PR card outside Canada

Ah ok then. I think I was thrown a bit by the first responsive from Withabix which I see has been withdrawn. So in summary I'll still be maintaining my PR status even if I continue to live outside...

Re: Renewal of PR card outside Canada

Ok thanks Vulcanoid! So for my trip in December I can simply travel on my yet to expire PR card. Assuming we don't move back anytime soon, for any subsequent holidays back to Canada will I need to...

Re: Renewal of PR card outside Canada

Ok that's interesting. We haven't got a set moving back date yet, it's more of a case of not wanting to lose it if I absolutely don't have to at the moment. From what you are both saying though it...

Renewal of PR card outside Canada

I was sponsored by my Canadian citizen partner for my PR card which I received in Feb 2012. We lived there until June 2014 and after that moved outside of Canada. My card is up for renewal in...

Re: Moving back to the UK from Canada shipping costs?

Oh that's interesting, I hadn't thought of that. We are using Upak too and most likely will just be having a shared container, no furniture, just boxes. I was thinking we would just hire a truck and...

Re: Working for a Canadian employer while in the UK

Yes I think they are. Transpires they have realized this is completely unworkable and are looking into him becoming a contractor for them and him invoicing them. We just now need to work with the...

Working for a Canadian employer while in the UK

Sorry in advance for the long post and apologies if this is better posted in the MBTTUK page, but initially I wanted to post here in case any Canadian based HR or tax people might be able to shed...

Re: Renewing UK Passport from Canada

Just a quick update. Received my daughters first British passport back on 27th March via DHL. So just under 7 weeks from the day I posted it off to getting it back. My countersignatory was a Canadian...

Re: Heinz baked beans

Yes the ones I have purchased (pictured) are most definitely not imported. The packaging is clear, they are made by Heinz Canada and are supposedly made closely following the British recipe. I know a...

Re: Heinz baked beans

Can you? Oh I didn't know that. Are they more expensive? I never go to Walmart. Not sure I can be bothered to make a special trip if I can get these.

Re: Heinz baked beans

Each to their own. I thought they were quite a good likeness. Certainly worth trying and seeing whether you like them for anyone hankering after British style beans.

Re: For anybody waiting to move back: Lessons learned

Good luck CalgaryPete. I'm liking the logistics. I was thinking the very same thing about a 'shipping room' etc.

I'm really interested to hear about how your last few days go, as I'm struggling...

Re: Getting rid of stuff before the move - overwhelmed

I'm not sure where you live, but I'm in the same boat in Canada but I have 3 months to go. Our plan of action is to do a list for each room and decide whether we are going to attempt to sell or...

Re: For anybody waiting to move back: Lessons learned

What a useful thread. We are moving back at the beginning of June. Date not set in stone yet, but it is the most likely. Haven't even started to think about packing yet, but I need to get started on...

This is the link you need to get the ball rolling. But as suspected they have already gone. None left. Your son and his girlfriend might be better travelling around Europe and working instead, as...

Re: Son's girlfriend coming for summer - can she work?

It's unlikely she will be able to work this summer. Assuming she fits the age criteria for the IEC, that is the best route, but as others have said, they only release a certain number and they have...

Re: Icelandair..?

If you are willing to break up the journey and up for seeing a new place, then yes I would recommend. I flew from London Heathrow to Reykjavik and then onto Toronto back in 2011. Flight was fine....
