Re: Renewing a UK passport

10 weeks is what the passport office recently quoted when they warned people who were planning to go abroad in the summer, that they should apply now for renewals. I believe the backlogs are caused...

Re: Renewing a UK passport

I think your info may be a little out of date now. I recently checked on how things were working as I read that nirmal processing if applying within the UK is about 10 weeks . The last time I renewed...

Re: Do people still emmigrate to South Africa

I suppose you have to ask yourself, why you would think about going to SA? The days have long gone when SA offered opportunities and a lovely life ( assuming you were white). I went there back in the...

Re: Coronavirus

Both Aus and NZ did a smart thing by quickly closing their borders , but didnt think about getting their people vaccinated as fast as possible; illogical. Israel and Chile went out of their way to...

Re: The road to freedom

Chile has reached the 80% and only a 2% positivity rate on PCR tests. I think as far as the UK is concerned, there must be political reasons for Chile to be on the red list, or perhaps those in...

Re: Are you a British expat, living in one of these specific countries?

. If I’m living in any of the countries mentioned, why would I have an active UK phone ? There are various comments on the web about this country, and the company doesnt mention any tests which...

Re: Kia ora

I understand your thoughts, and my thinking is that as we get older, we have a desire to be closer to those that are left of our family. This is natural, but I think what you need to ponder over, is...

Re: Need your ears and language skills please

There is a history behind the pronunciation of c or z as th. I cant remember the specifics, but it was due to a king many years ago, who had a lisp. So as not to make him feel uncomfortable, people...

Re: Transiting through France during Covid

I’m not at all religious, but I think it’s probably a waste of a prayer .

Re: Security grill for windows/doors

Over the years, I’ve learned that grills on windows really arent much of a protection. They are embedded in the cement around the frames, and it takes little effort to rip them off. The only way such...

Re: Gibraltar 2

You seem to like the word moronic, but perhaps dont use it at the correct times. When I asked about going to Spain via Gib, I understood that the border between those two countries was open , and am...

Re: Gibraltar 2

Thanks. That doesnt sound too bad, as I have no problem with spending 10 days in Gib, and it’s a lot better than suffering the quarantine in the UK

Re: Gibraltar 2

With the announcement of who is in each of the traffic light system, which has got to be yet another example of the incompetence of those making decisions, can I take a holiday in Spain from the UK,...

Re: UK citizen applying for USA Social Security from within UK

I dont know if it helps you, but I applied via the US Embassy in Chile, where I live. There is a section in the embassy that deals with US citizens requirements, and even though I’m not a US citizen,...

Re: Is the quality of this car acceptable?

I also suggest you just get rid of it the best way you can and buy Toyota. We’ve had Toyotas for the padt 14 years, and never ever had any problems. We get them serviced every 10000km and that’s it....

That doesnt sound to me to be a way to have a sound foreign investment. Where do you store your gold/ valuables in China? Is it really a wise idea to invest in something in China as a foreigner ? How...

Re: Vaccine - NZ strategy?

I read that NZ hopes to have all vaccinated by the end of the year, ie 5 million in 10 months; pretty lousy in my opinion. Chile, has vaccinatec just under 3 million in 3 weeks.
