Well I decided after the success of meeting expats in the States through this site I would try to get a group together who live in Vancouver.

As this is now a permanent move for us and it does not...

Vancity also offers a US account (which we need as O/H will have to travel back to the states for work once a month). We are going in today to sign the papers after opening the account over the phone.

As about in the US and here in Canada HSBC had a very large amount of our money in fixed savers (You cannot touch them for the term no matter what happens).

They would not even give me a credit...

I expected HSBC Premier to be a little better on the amount I was transferring. Not as good just a lot better than it was.

I tried to do the transfer through Global view however the rate to do it with HSBC was 2 1/2 cents less per pound than an FX company. Because it was a large amount it made a big difference.

The reason we did not get a good rate was because they are pulling their lending out of Canada by the end of 2013..

I have to say my Financial adviser has been fantastic and given me very good...

If As I am running as fast as I can away from HSBC Premier I am considering using Vancity?

Any feedback on the good / bad would be much appreciated..

I agree 100 %

We are going with ING for our mortgage, better rates, better terms, not locked in to a collateral mortgage as with HSBC (this is not something we wanted).

I have spoken to two financial advisers that have confirmed they are pulling out. They have already sold off some branches.

Certainly not standard practice to have such a hassle when doing...

There is really to much to go into here. However I have had an account with them in the UK since 1996 without any problems.

I switched to a HSBC Premier account when I was moving to the US to make...
