Re: Welcome to the UK

Hate to say it, but I've been all around the houses with car rentals and the only one I'll use now is Alamo. Always had top service wherever with them.

Re: Tele

Late as usual. Longmire is on Netflix. A month there would be the cheapest way of watching it if it's not on an "on demand" service. There are probably two week trials floating around too.

Re: The best thing about America

To put it in perspective, the last count of the homeless here showed just over 2,200 homeless. Of those, 700 were under 17. Bear in mind that this is people sleeping rough (not staying with friends...

Re: Faddish/trendy names: Aiden,Kaden,Jayden..

I like names like that. I wanted to call our daughter Niamh, but I lost that argument. Given her success spelling her own kids names, it's probably just as well.

Re: Faddish/trendy names: Aiden,Kaden,Jayden..

Our daughter went with Brayden, 13 years ago for her first. Personally, I think it's more down to challenges with spelling. The second got stuck with Aubree! Of course, they're shortened to Bray...

Re: The best thing about America

In a way, this goes to show just how diverse different areas in the US are. Certainly in my locality, if you ever hear a "you're welcome" or "thanks", it will come complete with a UK or Commonwealth...

Re: Housing market active...

The market here in Bend, Oregon, is very volatile. Prices went through the roof from 2004 to 2007 and then crashed hard in 2008. Ours crashed in value from $480,000 (next door, which is a little...

Re: Tele

I see that hot on the heels of a "Blake's 7" remake, there are remakes of "Gavin & Stacy" and "The Tomorrow People" on the way. Now who's old enough to have watched the last one when it was first...

Re: FA Cup Final

I really hope they don't have Gus Johnson as the commentator though. His commentary (with that numpty Ian Wright) on the Man U / Chelsea game on Sunday was downright awful.

Re: UK TV Programs

I try at take comfort that it keeps the quality up, pretty much the same way it does with Sherlock. It a lesson that some US TV makers could learn - quality over quantity.

Re: Where can I watch UK TV abroad?

Don't rely on that. Many of the well known VPN providers log every connection and will quite happily give up those logs without a subpoena or court order. I'm looking at you Strongvpn.

Re: Formula 1 streaming

Your best bet is probably a VPN and BBC iPlayer. There are lots of posts on the forum about this. Just search for "VPN".

Re: UK TV Programs

For any Morse fans, there's a new episode of the prequel, Endeavor, being shown on 14th April. Looks like it's the first in a four part series.

We're off to Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Glen Canyon, etc. on the 2nd week of May. We're flying down to SLC and picking up a rental car there. From here, it's a 2 day drive there and 2 days...
