There's usually a waiting period before you can claim on health insurance, 6 months mostly so it would still be a while before it could be fixed.

Yep you now need 2 years post UK registration experience to be able to apply for NZ registration.
But, if you already have your NZ reg than you've nothing to worry about.

Your both in your mid 40's, so say 15 years in NZ till retirement or 13 years if you postpone coming over for another 2 years. I'd think that's plenty of time to settle in.
