Re: Time in between flights at Phuket
Probably. Even though it's an internal flight it could easily get screwed up with any delay to your arrival, esp given that the gates will close 20 mins before departure.

Re: Phuket airport to town
Yah, the touts and some of the 'in-terminal' desks are a rip-off, touts topping the list. That office is fine though. It may have gone up to 600 now as a lot of the taxis from Patong / Phuket are...

Re: Phuket airport to town
Taxi best option by far. Walk out of 'Arrivals' hall, turn right, keep on going down the walkway to the 'Metered Taxi' office which just across the narrow slip-road at the end of the walkway. Go to...

While I can appreciate what you are saying, it only holds true IF you are talking about an experience where you have paid no money. The (academic)...

Not sure I fathom the logic of that one , but each to their own. I had a bad experience with a car I bought once, should I not buy another car? Personally I've not had any more bad...

Re: "Mingles", Meet-ups and other disasters?
The Expat 'Mingles' are nothing more than social gatherings aimed at expats living in Malaysia with a focus, at the moment, on KL and Penang, with KL having them at a ratio of about 2 or 3 to 1...

Protection for deposits etc in Malaysia comes via the PIDM service, established 2005 and covers up to RM 250,000 which was pretty much the same as the UK albeit a number of UK banks are now covered...

Re: Ferry to Langkawi
Yup, flying for me the best option EVERY time, I would never take the ferry again unless travelling alone, and even then, only at a push. The dank air and smell of diesel alone is enough to induce a...

Re: Ferry to Langkawi
IIRC, two, 8:15 and 8:30, go figure ;) Second one is direct, first goes via Pulau Player. Approx RM 115 return. Two return times, 2:30pm (via PP) and 5:30pm (direct), unless the timetables have...

Understandably the 'where to live' threads are common and if you do a search on that or other parameters such as 'live or living (*) KL / * Kuala Lumpur / * Penang etc etc you'll pull up a lot of...

Hi. Not 'promoting' at all, no need, combined blog and FB page gets around 2-3,000 hits daily, promoting on forums certainly not worth my time or effort given it would have a zero proportionate...

I did a lot of research into Panama which often scores highly in the retiree destination charts in various mags and sites. YMMV but I concluded that the reason it scores so highly is because of its...

With cars I think it depends what you like, how much you think you'll use it, how much you want to spend, resale value and servicing.

Re: Toll charges on roads
All times really, the bridge is often packed but it's the pay lanes that congest. Even at the worst time the TnG and ST lanes are fairly quickly moving.

Re: Toll charges on roads
Agree there's no need for a TnG or ST if you are staying within Penang. I do 4-5 return journeys across the bridge every week. Never seen any queues at St or TnG gates. I have seen lengthy queues...
