Re: Opening bank account - IRS doesn't believe our reason for US address is sufficien

This is going to make me pull out the direct deposit form I just signed for my contracting company, and read the fine print. I was not aware of this, and it pisses me off no end. May just have to...

Re: Amy's Baking Company - immigration angle

And quite probably soon to add the US to that list too. Hope Amy enjoys living outside the US.

Can't say as I blame you one bit for that. Think my OH did the same.

Re: Amy's Baking Company - immigration angle

Yeah, that's where we're aiming for. The Glasgow/Edinburgh/Central Belt area. My in-laws are in Hamilton, and we hope to use them as a starting base.

But the whole plan is in flux at the moment due...

Re: Mind going crazy!

Re: What is 'reasonable' for food shopping pp pw?

Seems we have a ways to go to get our bill down somewhat further, compared to how good some of you are doing it. It just seems so difficult when we are both trying to lose weight by incorporating in...

Re: What is 'reasonable' for food shopping pp pw?

Oh why oh why haven't I participated in this thread yet?!:p Lots of tidbits of info. We just found a place called Grocery Outlet near us here in Seattle. It reminded hubby and I of an Aldi's/Lidl or...

Re: Joining the Ranks of the Uninsured

There is no job opportunity yet in Scotland, but he is working on that angle. However, we need to make sure we have enough money to make the move. We weren't planning on moving until towards the end...

Re: Joining the Ranks of the Uninsured

I'm going to my neuro on Tuesday and will fill him in on the situation and see what he suggests on any drugs (our insurance ends on Tuesday). Luckily I'm not taking any meds for my PEC yet, but I had...

Re: Joining the Ranks of the Uninsured

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We have considered COBRA. We know for just him it would be around $450, so I imagine it would double that cost to cover both of us. Considering how tight the...

Thumbs down Joining the Ranks of the Uninsured

Well, I wish I could report that our move out to Seattle has been great and without hiccups, but that sadly hasn't been the case. There's been a few things that we haven't like about Seattle so far,...

Re: 2 large explosions at Boston Marathon

You probably don't know me, since I've never chatted with you before, but I am an American, born and raised, as are all my family going back many generations. I didn't pick up on a 'letting off...

Re: 2 large explosions at Boston Marathon

Everytime I hear people doing that damn "USA" chant, I hate it. It horrifies me. I don't even know what words to use to describe how it makes me feel. It's like this childish "we're better than you...
