Re: Passport photo nightmare...!!

This is going to sound obsessive and way OTT. Last time my passport was due for renewal, I flew to England, booked into a hotel in Peterborough, and made an in-person appointment at the passport...

Re: Solar eclipse 2024

Apparently, the track of the TOTAL eclipse is about 100 miles wide. Looking at the maps, Dallas is in the total eclipse band, but nowhere in the state of Mississippi is. My town, Canton, NY, is right...

Re: Solar eclipse 2024

Well, just remember - it’s a rolling event, fortunately! It will happen at a specific time, all that way along the corridor through the US and Canada. I know that my friend & colleague Aileen...

Re: Solar eclipse 2024

I am in England so will miss it. Here’s a pretty informative page about the eclipse from my college, St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. According to the forecast for the 8th, Canton is looking...

Re: Gatwick Airport Hotels?

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll either stay at the Hampton or the Sofitel (each about £150) or if I feel like going cheaper, the Premier Inn (about £105)

I think part of my initial uncertainty was...

Re: Gatwick Airport Hotels?

That is an excellent website, thanks! Lots of interesting insights.

Just to show how little I know about Gatwick, (I used to use it all the time, but all pre-1995.) I’m flying JetBlue, and they...

Re: Gatwick Airport Hotels?

LOL! Yeah, I know all that. I did that , or similar, search, and looked at that map. Further, my search on Expedia gave the distance from the terminal of all these hotels. However, neither the...

Re: Car insurance

I am pretty sure this is correct. They’ll tell you any rigmarole in order to justify a significant discount. We’ve been with Liberty Mutual for many years, the rate crept up and up. (I forget the...

Re: $100 to LGW

Now that Gatwick is fully back in the transatlantic business post-pandemic, the old prejudice against it seems the same as ever - regarded as less convenient or whatever, compared to Heathrow. So...

Re: Help with High School

Usually there’s no choice of high school, since most states are divided into school districts, and depending on your residential address, you attend the high school in that district. (Sometimes...
