Re: LMO rejected twice - options

I see. Did you ever sent your application for visitor status?

Let us know what CIC sends back. Curious as this is an ongoing discussion whether or not one can have implied status when switching from...

Re: LMO rejected twice - options

What's the newest on your status? You are supposedly under implied status and allowed to work due to the LMO still being reviewed? You applied for visitor status? You'll apply for the CEC?

I am...

Re: DIY

We're in Ontario and just built new or better had a builder built new. He had all the permits (quite a few) hung up in the garage and at every stage they needed to get an inspector in to check...

Re: Earthquake, Ottawa - did you feel it?

My kids didn't notice anything this time round but the bigger earthquake we felt in Ottawa maybe 2 years ago scared them. I told them the earth was having hick ups that made them giggle ;)

Re: Receiving mail from the UK

Sounds about right for surface mail. My MIL sent a parcel that took almost 8 weeks  It takes a long time sending to the UK, too. From Germany though it takes 3-5 days air mail and 7-10 surface...

Re: Photo Requirements for PR

My personal opinion, others might have better ideas: I would go and get pictures done with the bruises on the nose. Write a cover letter explaining the situation and that you will send new pictures...

Re: Canada > US > Canada Warning long post

If he tells them he got PR September 2009 and hasn't been in Canada since, that won't go down well. Maybe he's lucky and won't get asked but I am with SchookoLoly on this, DO NOT LIE ABOUT WHEN YOU...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

Look sad, explain your situation, I would not mention the misinterpretation of the PR card details. As soon as you say "if I had known I would have come earlier" it'll be clear that you could have...

Re: Canada > US > Canada Warning long post

When you leave Canada to go the States by land , the Canadians don't ask for anything but the US does. Passport, I94s and not sure about your Russian wife if she'd need a proper visa to enter the...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

I don't think CBSA should overlook any day especially as Canada asks it's residents to spend only 40% of their time in the country. That is not much. On the other hand the OP has nothing to loose so...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

I agree with christmasoompa and James. If you don't have dependents then give it a go. Best case CBSA won't even ask you, worst case they do then either tell the truth and hope for the best or lie...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

I am sorry IMO you don't have a serious enough reason to not meet the PR requirements looking at the facts you have shared with us. Family reasons are within your control. You can choose whether to...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

Once you land you get PR! But you don't have to give a Canadian address if you go straight back to the UK. Once one decides to move over permanently they can apply for their PR card and then get a...

Re: PR REQUIREMENTS 730days/5years

I like the FAQ type sticky idea but then again nobody reads the wiki so would they read the sticky? ;)

Also this was meant more for people to realise they should check when they actually...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

The PR card is like a health card. The card itself is valid for 5 years and then you renew it. It has nothing to do wit your actual PR status. Your PR starts the day you land and then you have to be...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

It has been mentioned before I think that barely anything counts apart from maybe being in a coma for 3 years. To be honest 2/5 is only 40% and CBSA will want a very good reason why this was...

Exclamation PR REQUIREMENTS 730days/5years

It seems there is a lot of confusion lately as when the permanent residency starts and the 730 days/ 5 years rule begins.

Your permanent resident status allows you to live in Canada, but there is...

Re: Has my PR effectively expired?

After you left back in 2010 have you ever been back for a visit? These days would count, too. Looking at your dates you should have latest arrived in Canada on April 15th 2013 to be able to meet the...
