Re: For those over 60's returning on a budget!
Exactly. These sort of products are not good investments and I would never buy one myself, but they are useful in some circumstances. There are lots of bad products out there, but they are not scams....

Re: UK State Pension
I think you mean Class 2 rather than Class 3 as Class 3 is more expensive than 2.70 GBP/week.

Re: Health Insurance req't for NON UK Spouse
In school studying the lead up to WWII and then watching "The World at War" on the telly I was always amazed at how it was possible for Germany to be so cruel and narrow minded towards the Jews. I...

Re: Selling-up and returning to the UK
I've moved around the US a few times and I always find that it's worth staying in your new place or a rental place while you are packing up the old home. paying for two homes isn't good, but it makes...

Re: Health Insurance req't for NON UK Spouse
I'm not as sanguine about the English as you. I look at New Labour, the sell out of the Lib Dems in coalition, the increasing influence of the Tory right and the rise of UKIP as pandering to many or...

Re: Health Insurance req't for NON UK Spouse
Britain is becoming a mean spirited and paranoid country. The requirement for a immigrant resident to have health insurance before accessing the NHS is a fundamental change to the way health care is...

Re: How Much Money Did You Bring Back
Well "hoping" won't make it happen. You need a budget and an investment plan.
700k pounds might sound like a lot but, depending on your age etc, it can dwindle very quickly if you don't control...

Re: Giving up Green Card
If you have a green card you have to declare your worldwide income and your ability to invest in the UK in things like stocks and shares ISAs would be severely limited.

Re: Giving up Green Card
To give up a green card you file an I-407 with the INS. Once that is done you might have to file an 8854 with the IRS if you have lived in the US long enough. You can also loose the green card if you...

Re: Relocating whilst pregnant
The OP should look at the different "traditions" for child birth in the UK and US and decide where she would be more comfortable......C-sections and epidurals are very common in the US......also...

Without details of the OP's prospective health plan it's difficult to answer her question form a cost stand point. There is an enormous range of deductibles and coverages in US healthcare, and...

Re: FBAR and UK Retirement Plans - confused
That's a good letter and states the issues nicely. IMHO I would probably file FBAR on every foreign account and I would claim tax treaty exemption for any foreign retirement account that could...

Re: FBAR and UK Retirement Plans - confused
This is an area where you will get different opinions from different people. The safest option is to put everything on FBAR. It isn't a lot of trouble, however, the majority of opinions I've read are...

Re: FBAR and UK Retirement Plans - confused
The FBAR folks can only go on on what you've told them and the statement you sent. Most "Persoanl Pension Plans" allow for the account holder to direct the investments in to certain fund options. A...

Re: FBAR and UK Retirement Plans - confused
