Re: Skills you have learnt, that would not make sense in the UK

When I was there several years back I helped to deliver a stuck calf using rope. Something I was never called upon to do in Middlesex. :)

Re: Awesome Kiwi Cusine

Had my first experience of a hangi last time I visited. It was easily the best meal I'd had in a long time. This is not meant to reflect my poor cooking prowess!

Re: Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

:o I knew trendy was a very untrendy word as I typed it but couldn't think of a trendier one. Chertsey Lock was in Dockett Eddy lane. We are talking thirty years ago! Best forgotten.

Re: Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

We have been back as a family for a few weeks at a time in '02 and '08. Hubby was last there in 2011. He loves the UK also and will miss it...

Re: Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

So my husband and I have had THAT conversation. He wants to return home to New Zealand and we are trying to come to a decision. I am British and love the UK. With his recent redundancy he has lost...

Re: Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

It kind of feels like less of a dream and more of a necessity. Aside from my parents we have no other relations here involved in my sons life, whereas in NZ we have my in-laws, cousins and uncles and...

Re: Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

Thankyou MOSO. That is definitely along the lines of what we are looking for. Now we just have to do battle with him to convince him that it is a good idea. Wish me luck!

Thinking AGAIN of coming over!

Hi
I've previously poked my nose in here and there as we had been toying with coming back there a couple of years ago but work got in the way. However, my Kiwi husband has just been made redundant...

Re: Driving standards in NZ

While I would not say my husband is a 'total and utter tosser', I do agree that it is culturally the norm not to have lessons from a paid instructor. Both my husband and all of his friends who drove...

Re: Feeling ripped off

I have always been able to see my Dr or atleast a Dr the same or following day. They seem happy to let me winge for 10 minutes with my list of ailments and I've never felt rushed.

Re: Stay or Go.... Dilemma...

Personally speaking, I live in the UK and am none of the above. It is possible to leave somewhere regrettably. I love the UK and so does my Kiwi husband. We love everything about our lives here...

I hear a lot about what is more expensive in New Zealand but what is cheaper in comparison to 'stuff' here?

Re: Your Day In 10 Words Or Less

It's the second time I've forgotten in 17 years. Last time I 'rushed' out to buy the card, I presented him with a birthday card. Still, he benefits from me having to make amends for the next year. :o
