Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
I did my 11+. I think my age group were the last in most parts of England to sit that exam. Don't think we ever worked with yards though. I'm still not exactly sure to this day how far my dad is...

Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
I got the answer but not without doing a few drawings for Alex and writing the mesurements in cm on each side of the tablecloth and the napkin.
It all seemed a little complicated for a 9 yr old to...

Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
Do any of you grown up people in today's world work with or do calculations using dm and hm? Really and truly, do we use them?
A part of Alex's maths homework is,
A Signora wants to trim her...

Re: 54 euro for 4 icecreams
Not a great deal of inflation? What are you talking about?
A palline at it's most expensive is 1.20 euro here. A pallina sold at 1.50 is very expensive.

Re: Pet Peeves?
In my defence, I teach English in Italy and I'm sick of students asking me why I say certain words when they hear them in TV pronounced incorrectly. Sometimes it's the fault of the Italian narrator. ...

Re: quick question!!
When I arrived in Italy something called a "work booklet" existed and when I went to get to mine, the guy asked which school I had done.
I started to explain that we don't choose schools and that it...

Re: Pet Peeves?
That is so wrong.
A) because the correct phrase is "I couldn't care less"
B) because in this case 'less' is the correct term and 'fewer' isn't.
If you were being sarcastic, then I apologise for...

Re: quick question!!
Hadenoughpizza couldn't have said it better.
You don't "do" your GCSE or A level in Italy.
You choose a school direction at about age 13 and that is supposed to take you to age 18. At least for 5...

Re: The Apprentice
It's back.
The new UK series began last night.
I love the first episode where all the new candidates brag about themselves.
One of them said he is a Napolean. I am not a business genius, but I...

Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
My mum, over 40 years ago didn't have to convert to marry my dad in a Catholic church in the UK, but she did have to promise to bring her kids up Catholic. We were all baptised in the same church,...

Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
Patty, ironically, peace is what most of them are supposed to be seeking.
If you or I have found it with or without God, then good for us that we haven't had to suffer the heartache and the...

Re: Fat people - I need help
My normal day includes as little programmed exercise as possible.
I cannot plan it. I can walk to a shop, pick up bread and walk back. Bollocks, perhaps I'm not supposed to buy the bread?
I do the...

Re: Moans, groans, grunts and wheezes...
