Re: TRAINEE-SHIP & RESEARCH VISA (OTV - 402 VISA)

Nobody applies for "permanent residency", not ever. It is only possible to apply for visas, some visas are permanent and some are not.

If you qualify for a permanent visa then you can apply for it,...

Re: Possible move to Oz

I usually tell people to give the expo shows a miss too, I read your first sentence and thought well maybe it is time to refresh my opinion ... sadly by the end I reverted to my long held view that...

Re: 5 days in Las Vegas

I think I could easily spend 5 days in Las Vegas, I was there for 7 days I think last time I went, although that was over Christmas and we were meeting family there.

I am struggling to think how we...

Re: Maris Piper Potatoes

What is good for baking? I sometimes feel like a baked potato but all the potatoes are so small, I like a large baked potato.

Re: Moving Pets Abroad & Accomodation

Rental markets are tight everywhere in Australia. They are in Sydney too and I was quite scared by posts similar to this, it was in fact the thing I worried about the most before moving, the not...

Re: Applying For Jobs From Outside Australia

You might get lucky, but IT is not an area where people typically need to look for overseas candidates. You may find you will only make progress when you get here.

Re: Student Midwife wanting to work in Australia

What do you mean by "where is best"? Best in what respect? You might need to be a bit clearer, the idea that there is somewhere in Australia that is "best for midwifery" is faintly ridiculous to be...

Re: Student Midwife wanting to work in Australia

Seriously, I would just look into this nearer the time, sounds like you are a good two years off and things, including the visa process might have changed substantially by then.

You are in an...

Re: Moving Pets Abroad & Accomodation

We spent about GBP3-3.5k moving two cats in 2010.

I was also expecting trouble finding a rental with cats but in the end it was not even remotely difficult.

Re: job recruitment agencies

Agreed. I think it best to avoid companies that mix finding jobs with offers of visas and sponsorships. They are usually only selling dreams.

Most Australian insurers are not on there, it is actually quite a bad way to compare the market.

Re: Visitor visa for would be partner

No this is not the correct way to do things. And particularly unlikely to work if the partner is from a high risk country as it sounds like is the case.

Re: 457 visa

There is nothing wrong with the 457 visa so long as you understand it and see it as the temporary work permit that it is. The trouble starts when someone does not understand it, thinks they are...

Re: Am I being ripped off by my agent?

I don't think any application under "other specialist managers" is going to be simple to be honest, because that is fairly obscure and the skills assessment and certainly work experience will have to...

Re: State sponsored but want to live elsewhere - 2013 threads

I am not one of those people that had an idyllic childhood, in fact I had a fairly tough one in many ways. But one thing I am immensely grateful for, is that my parents taught me right from wrong. ...

Re: need a bit of guidance please

Your visa should not make any difference to your wages. It is important you do your homework and make sure you are getting a market rate, just as you would if you had a job offer in the UK.
