Re: The next election

Re: Brit debating taking job offer in Canada!

In Canada immigration is part of daily life, in the US, while there is immigration, it's not as prominent and people born overseas are not such a big chunk of the population. So if you have an accent...

Re: Cost of Living

That's more of a symptom of car-oriented suburban planning, you're expected to drive to Costco and have to stock up 1-2 weeks of groceries. Sure maybe you save a little buying in bulk but you end up...

Re: Why are the potatoes so rubbish?

Just like in the UK, produce varies where you buy it. Here Superstore and Walmart have the worst produce. Your best bet is to go to an actual produce store to get the nicest potatoes, here we have...

Re: I don't have A-levels or a degree

Assuming you mean PR, it might be better to look into Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) which tend to be more flexible when it comes to qualifications and jobs.

Re: Need a bit of advice!

You can withdraw from an RRSP before 65 however it is taxed as additional income as RRSPs are a tax-deferment scheme. I'm not sure how that exactly works if you are no longer living in Canada,...

Re: Decent curry in GTA

I've most commonly heard the term "East Indian" used to mean people from India instead of the colonial "Indian" term for First Nations, rather than South Asian, though as time goes on I've noticed...

Re: Brits may soon be able to give blood in Canada

To be fair Quorn could just "bend the knee" and make a Canadian variation of their items fortified with B vitamins and get Health Canada approval. They would have to to change the packaging anyway to...

Re: Which Passport Should We Apply For?

That's pretty unacceptable, what if you were born in the UK but spent your adult life in Canada? They shouldn't give you a hard time because you haven't jumped through all the red tape to get a UK...

Re: Which Passport Should We Apply For?

As far as I know the UK doesn't mind if you enter on another passport even if you hold UK Citizenship - https://www.etauk.uk/requirements/

Canada is still visa-exempt so no ETA required yet, but...

Re: Interest rates are brutal

Thanks for the insightful post. I'm hoping this car will be the one for a long time, like 10 years at least. At the end of the lease I'll have to figure out how to pay off the remaining balance,...

Interest rates are brutal

I've been waiting a long time to purchase a new car, my old Honda Civic is on it's way out and decided to go the EV route as my wife qualifies for the full BC EV discount and I'm sick of paying for...

Re: Been awhile :) Looking for some info on shipping companies - UK to Canada

Re: Shocking Deprivation and Homelessness in Canada

Because solving the homeless problem requires upsetting NIMBYs/homeowners, either by hurting their house prices while making homes more affordable or building social housing near them, and...

Re: Has the Ontario economy died?

I do know that the Bank of Canada's high interest rates are hurting economic growth, companies are not taking on debt to cover running costs so hiring fewer people. Same goes for housing, higher...
