Re: Form S1 - How long does it last?

It is absolutely not your place to be filling in an E121, it is (was) an official document issued by DWP, but if that is what they are asking you to do then what the hell !

Don't you just love the...

Re: Keep a close eye on your car's CT

Sounds incredibly harsh and I'm pretty sure outwith their powers for a simple out of date CT.

The normal procedure would be to confiscate the carte grise and issue a temporary document giving the...

Re: Working in Uk and living in Spain

I agree in certain circumstances offshore workers may receive different treatment but if the OP is an ordinary UK sector offshore worker and UK PAYE employee then none of those will apply.

I worked...

Re: Working in Uk and living in Spain

If you are a UK PAYE employee then you will have to pay your tax in UK but under the dual tax treaty will not have to pay again in Spain.

For health care you need to apply to HMRC for a 'workers...

Re: Keep a close eye on your car's CT

Having an expired MOT does not and cannot invalidate your insurance.

To limit a claim an insurance company would have to prove that a fault or faults in your car contributed to an accident in some...

Re: Form S1 - How long does it last?

The '3 years previous not 2' refers to immediately preceding tax years not just any therefore the clock for an S1 started ticking when you stopped paying NI.

If that was in Dec 2011 then at very...

Re: Form S1 - How long does it last?

It seems churlish if not arrogant to argue with what you have got from the horses mouth so to speak however what you have been told seem to fly in the face of what happens in practice.

I retired in...

Re: Downloading foreign stuff - problems?

It was a bit tongue in cheek that said regardless of how good they were in the context of the industry as a whole and it's annual worldwide output they barely register.

By all means let the French...

Re: Downloading foreign stuff - problems?

There are many many ways to directly and safely download just about anything you care to name be that music, films, software, or whatever and by focusing purely on P2P they ensured that the scheme...

Re: French tax implications of savings in UK account

The potential penalty for not declaring foreign accounts, taken from form 3916 itself:

Toute omission ou inexactitude dans l’accomplissement de vos obligations vous expose à deux types de sanction :...

Re: Selling RHD car on french plates back in UK

You have the facts in front of you so tell them they are wrong and how you know it to be so.

AFAIK the publication referred to is automatically distributed to all MOT test stations.

Re: Selling RHD car on french plates back in UK

That makes no difference whatsoever.

As was pointed out earlier since an MOT is a pre-requisite for registering an imported car in UK it would be utterly perverse to say that you cannot take one for...

Re: Selling RHD car on french plates back in UK

Let the dealer do it (and accept a lower trade in value as a result) or get a friend or relative to register it in their name.

Re: voiture sans permis

Living in the middle of nowhere and losing ones driving licence, for whatever reason, can be a virtual death sentence, that is the reason VSP's exist.

Re: Changing UK Driving licence for French one

You shouldn't have to actually prove anything but they will need some information to find you in their records.

They will need your full name and date of birth and also the last UK address you...

Re: Changing UK Driving licence for French one

If the German licence is the most recent EU licence you were issued with then you should be able to exchange that for a French one but also, if you passed your test in UK, then you can apply to the...

Re: Changing UK Driving licence for French one

A couple of points.

Kontiki says "you should have by now had a photo licence" but that is not fact. There has never been nor is there any obligation to switch to a photocard and your paper licence...

Re: French tax implications of savings in UK account

Yes, I did misread you.

I can see where having say a business A/C in a company name rather than your own might very easily confuse them !

I think the safest course has to be to declare everything...

Re: French tax implications of savings in UK account

I'm uncertain what you mean by saying that you were unsure of what your accounts were 'classed as'. Surely a foreign bank or building society account can only be defined as an account held outside of...

That might be technically correct but I declared my two UK bank A/C with my first tax return several years ago and have not re-declared them since.

I have nothing to hide it's just that until a year...

Re: Buying a car and insurance

For the sake of a 60km round trip I'd have definitely bypassed the sous prefecture.

The predicted footprint is highly theoretical and is what Astra would like to see, the reality will likely be very very different.

Certainly the changes which have taken place so far have had zero...

Re: Selling RHD car on french plates back in UK

Sorry but that sounds completely spurious and made up to me, by whomever you have spoken to I mean, not you.

What does 'spoken to UK police' actually mean, someone in authority or just a woodentop...
