Re: Northern Territory, Tasmania or None

We spent our first four years in Australia in Darwin and loved it. We still have a house there that we rent out. It does get very hot and humid in the summer but the winter months are gloriously hot...

Re: AHPRA form finally sent /TImeline will be updated

Can you not come over on a tourist visa and present to AHPRA while you're here. You can then go back to UK and wait for your visa to be granted. Bit more expensive but at least it's not giving up...

Re: Cost to make the move

That's true. We've always had two cars till we moved from Darwin to Melbourne. Now we have one car and both commute to the city by train so it sits in the garage most of the time. No way would I...

Re: Opening a joint bank account before moving

You can open a joint account online with NAB too - although they (and I) advise you not to transfer any money into it until you have your visas granted x

Re: Health Care Insurance

Ambulance cover may depend where you live. In Victoria, for example, it's only $89.90 a year for a family for full ambulance cover - well worth it x

Re: hello all from Rachel+Craig>>>>Brisbane

For the visa you won't need to do another skills assessment - the Trade Assessment by the ADF is a skills assessment so if you've passed that then it's all good.

Good luck for your interview -...

If you find one, can you post it on here please? I was looking for my parents for when they visit and the best I could find was only for 3 months x

Re: hello all from Rachel+Craig>>>>Brisbane

Hello to you both!

We came over as laterals 8 years ago. Started in Darwin and now in Melbourne. Brisbane is an excellent place to live (apparently). It's a very sought after posting location...

Re: Anyone got their postal vote for the UK GE yet?

Same here, but your nominated proxy voter can then apply to vote in another constituency.

That's what I did last time but unfortunately they didn't send me the forms in time to do that this time...

Re: How long can a parent stay on a visitor visa from the UK & how many times per yea

Not sure about using a cruise to re-set the visa. According to the immi website the time spent on a round trip cruise, if it's under 30 days (even if visiting other islands) is classed as still being...

Re: Anyone got their postal vote for the UK GE yet?

Re: 457 refusal

Are you already on a 457? If not then I'm not sure if there is an obligation for the employer to pay for repatriation.

I agree with the above though that it is worth speaking with a MARA agent -...

Re: Citizenship eligibility advice

It does state in the proposal that you will need 4 years as PR immediately before applying with no more than 12 months outside of Australia in that time. Obviously these are the proposed guidelines -...

Re: UK to Sydney - what to expect?

I'd say if he has a good job lined up with a really good wage (Sydney is expensive), then go for it - especially as you are wanting to move from UK anyway. Kids can adapt quite easily, especially if...

Re: Justice of the Peace not fully certified my documents...please advise!
